    Glasair III painting fun

Well, been building for five years. Painting almost five months, and probably another 6 weeks to go on the paint work as I have to finish the paint scheme, do some small area reworks, then clear coats. But I'm close to that first flight and I can't wait!

    Aircraft data plate

So, an aircraft that was wrecked has the insurance company pull the data plate off and throw it away. The aircraft is fully re buildable and could be bought well. The FAA had nothing to do with the data plate removal. As far as I can tell, the aircraft can be rebuilt and legal but a new data...

    Glasair III firewall installed!

Getting close now. Firewall was a big project in itself. Now with it done I can reinstall the fwf (already roughed in as part of the process). Going forward it's more a more direct path of assembly for the last time. Feeling good about my chances to fly it this year now.

An even better day with my Glasair

Today felt like my project took leaps forward. Building is like that. You spend weeks with little change in appearance and then....things come together quickly. Today was one of those days. Even rolled out of the hanger. I have to admit, it is much easier to move with the tow bar in and out of...

    Hung engine today...

Hung my IO540 lycoming on my Glasair III today. Pretty excited about this engine. It was built by a very knowledgable builder who used to manage penn yan for three years before going into business for himself. It has gapless rings raising the compression. His suggestion as a preferred way to...
