Mustang Mach-E

I'm not sure either. I think I've seen articles but nothing definite. One thing that might be is the shifter moving to a steering wheel stalk (away from the dial)

It had the stalk mounted gear shifter, which is was better than Ford's dial-a-gear knob.

Added a spoiler so I can go a lot faster now! Did my first non home / work charging at ChargePoint yesterday. Definitely not a road tripper at 70Kwh and .48 cents per. But, I have a NACS adapter to use select Tesla chargers if necessary.

Yeow! That's pretty slow and expensive. Of course, that's why the Tesla chargers are the best! However, I don't know what they're charging now for non-Tesla types. I've been seeing prices in the low 30s, or between 1.5x-2x what I pay at home.

You maxed out at 70kW? (kWh is the measurement of "quantity" of charge, not rate) Not very good, unless you were at a high state-of-charge already. I'm not sure if you're saying that it was your rate or if you have a 70kWh battery. I initially thought rate but now am not sure.

A search says that the Mach-E has a max charging rate of either 150kW, on the ER battery, or 115kW, on older standard range batteries.

I wonder why Ford limited the Mach-E to 150kW? It would be so much better for trips if it could do 250kW, even if only for a short time.

Yeah 70 Kw not 70 KWh. Typo. They’re listed as 125 Kw but no one is getting that on the reviews. I was at 58 % SOC too so that probably restricted it a bit. Honestly I was just surprised they worked. The reviews almost always showed the CCS port being broke but the J1772 working.

Like the 5 sec max power limit, I think the 150 kw restriction is a precautionary measure to control temps.

That's unfortunate. It's such a good car, other than that. At least you'll never notice for daily driving.
Yeah and that’s what I bought for anyway. I charge at home and 12 hrs at work. That’s substantial savings each month. I’m on the Mach E FB page though and a lot of people bought this as their only car. They’re frustrated not only with charging speeds but the lack of reliability of non Tesla network.

but the lack of reliability of non Tesla network.
I've only used a CCS charger once, and that was only to test my new ECU upgrade. It was at a BP Pulse station at a Thortons and had a CC reader so it was very easy.

I'd heard that the non-Tesla networks have been getting better but it sounds like there are still issues. I've heard good things about the network that Ionna is building. Lots of complaints about Electrify America.

Any chance Sodium replacing Lithium in the future for EVs? If the weight wasn’t an issue, sure looks like they beat Lithium in all other areas. Far cheaper than Lithium and easier mined.

Yes, cell density is not very good in comparison, but pack density actually starts to get pretty close.

Anyone with a proper mustang finds these things offensive

Should have named it the Karen or something

You wanna race ;)

Show me on the doll where the EV touched you

If it was faster than the big ol’ ford explorer maybe ;)

2026 Model Year Tests (conducted September 2025 at Grattan Raceway):

• Ford Mustang Mach-E GT eAWD: Average lap time 1:38.84 (battery SOC managed with ~40-minute charges between driver runs to simulate optimal conditions).

Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.0L EcoBoost AWD (the strongest performer among Utility variants): Average lap time 1:35.95 (fastest overall in this test).

Summary: The Ford Police Interceptor Utility (especially the 3.0L EcoBoost AWD) has consistently recorded faster average lap times than the Mustang Mach-E in MSP dynamic testing—typically by 2–6 seconds per lap depending on the year and trim. The Mach-E is quicker in acceleration but the traditional Utility edges it out on the track. “

Where did it hurt me?
As a taxpayer that would be in the old electric car subsidies

Electrics are great, I love a electric golf cart for getting around the airport and pulling airplanes around, the one wheel is also dangerously fun

Yeah, it’s not a mustang, but it’s a nice car. Had a corvette next to me floor it when the light turned yesterday. I followed suit and kept up with him even with a delayed start and I had it in relax mode.

Were you able to hang with him in the corners and braking?

Sounds like your issue is with the government then. I wonder what life is like to be so butthurt about someone else buying a car.

I could care less what car someone buys and I’m happy if they are happy, however I can also be a realist and not pretend that I wasn’t also forced to buy a little slice of their car too :)

Ain't a mustang

I really wish Ford hadn’t branded the MME as a Mustang, because the mouth breathers sure love telling people that it’s not a mustang. Yeah, no ****, but I didn’t give it the name.

why are people so in love with grey?

Ok. In different light Glacier Grey sometimes looks like Vapor Blue vice versa. I like the newer wheels on the 2025 GT as wheel.
What color is yours?

I almost bought the dark green metallic. It looked good in photos, but when I saw it in person I didn't like it. There was a glacier grey on the same lot and I liked that better in person than in the photos.

When you compare the numbers, federal support for oil production and corn ethanol is substantially larger than the combined funding for EV tax credits and EV infrastructure.

Ethanol was probably the biggest boondoggle, but saying there were worse programs isn’t really high testimate lol

No facts please. You will make made head hurt trying to disprove my tightly held preconceptions.

Right, but saying you don't like EV's because of taxes is not a good argument, considering ICE cars are probably getting more of your hard earned tax money than an EV.

Ahh, well I don’t like EVs because of their lack of handling and braking performance and lack of practically for where I live.

They also have a much more disposable feel in their inception

That's what they used to say about hybrids. A buddy bought one in the mid 2000's, fearmongerers were quick to predict him a fast and expensive battery death. That car was finally sold last year.
All it failed on the HV electrical side was a battery temperature sensor and a battery cell, after about 15 years. Both fixed for less than 1AMU.

EVs might not work for everyone. But they do work (or could work) for most people.
And I'd rather see the corn ethanol subsidies ended and that 25% of all corn production land that they use being repurposed for solar panels. That could generate enough electricity to supply the entire US, even accounting for a massive transition to EVs.

How would you handle storage and transportation?

How would you handle storage
Most likely sodium-ion batteries, which would ensure independence from China's lithium supply. We can retrain all the coal industry workers to become the next generation of battery makers. They'll live longer, too.
and transportation?
We have this wonderful thing called the national grid. It will have to grow in capacity, like it has been doing over the past century as demand increased.

We have quite a bit more capacity that we don't currently use. We use less than 50% of our generating capability. What we lack is a way to time-shift more of it. That capability is growing.
