We have a hangar up on The Hill. BJ's a hoot. I really like the EAA group that meets there, fantastic folks.

Hahaha! Stop it! We have to enter the hill to get to our hangar which is near runway 1. We are in 17-A right next to Tidal Aviation. I think I’ve seen your beauty taxi through a few times

I’ve met BJ at their morning coffee/donuts event in the hangar near ours.
I’ve yet to meet Terry, although we often speak on the frequency after getting my taxi instructions. They started feeling like family the day I solo’d there and took care of me when flying back in from my solo X-C. The last time he asked about me it was right before my Checkride and he knew it was coming up.

The day I took it, he wasn’t working the frequencies. I’ve been trying to figure out how to let him know I did it, as he was extremely encouraging over the comms.

I want to send them some donuts up there but idk which days he’s working!

For sure and I didn't feel guilty. ha
Looks like you slathered sauce all over those formerly life changing ribs. Try it without next time and enjoy the meat!

There's no sauce on there. After the ribs finish cooking they put an apricot glaze on it and caramelize it over. It just looks that wsy.
I'm pretty much addicted to their ribs.

Nooooooooo! What has Pappy's done! It used to be dry rub. Granted, long ago the dry rub was a bit sharper, and they obviously toned it down and it became a bit dull. Ugh, we do we have to make all food sweetened.

Trust me they're still amazing. It's still dry but the apricot glaze gives it that look. It's not all sweet. it's savory with a hint of sweet goodness. I'm legitimately addicted to it.

1st pic is of me and 508AF after my successful checkride flight (on Monday). 2nd pic was from a few days before when there was a fly-in for a crawfish boil at the hangar next to us at KCXO. Beautiful day for it and gorgeous planes.
Congrats! Did you celebrate with a meal over at the Black Walnut? Love their outside patio overlooking the ramp there.

Thank you! No, I did not. Before I started my training, I would study ground stuff at the Black Walnut. Yes, their patio area is awesome but so is their food! I plan to go back there soon.

Avionics shop finished up my plane yesterday, but I couldn't go get her until evening. My rule is that if I pull her out of the hangar, I fly her, so I took her up for a few T&G's before I tucked her in bed. Cool, calm, smooth air; just getting dark and the lights coming on....it was magical.

Unfortunately my phone sucks lol.

Was in NZ recently, rented a 172 in Mount Maunganui on the north island. Went on a nice tour of the area, including the Mount (which I had hiked the day before) and beach area, and then headed nortwest towards the gold and silver mines. Took a CFI with me to be legal and deal with airspace and com peculiarities. Tower at the class D had us take off from the paved runway and land in the grass between the runway and parallel taxiway.

And you bet I logged that time and landing!

Good trip up to Madison last night (KMSN). Got some foggle time enroute, courtesy car for dinner and beer, and friend flew us back.

... But I knew I was in Wisconsin when I came in carrying 2 cases, 40lbs, of bottled beers up to the FBO countertop -- and their only reaction was to say "looks heavy, need help with the beer?" :D. I expected at least moderate judgment. Not in Wisconsin.

Hah! This is Wisconsin. The only way you get funny looks here is when you DON'T leave with at least a couple cases of Spotted Cow.

Seriously - This phenomenon is so common that we considered getting a liquor license for the FBO and having a small "store within a store" type setup with beer, cheese, brats, and other locally produced items. And that wasn't an original idea, one of the FBOs in Green Bay had all that plus Packers gear for sale in the FBO until they got bought out.

I've seen planes leave here with as many as 8 cases of beer; 2 cases is very common.

When I take a newbie flying along our coast I usually begin by overflying Cape Henlopen near Lewes, Delaware. The Cape is where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean.

I flew over the bay on my way to Florida from New York Christmas 2023 right around sunset time. It was beautiful!
