Ok, get tired or horking around a stupid big lens on a tripod with my tiny D3200 camera body hanging on the back - Break out the old iPhone 15 and shoot video!

Playing around with a new lens today. It was HFM's last fly day of the season.

What's the new lens?

Some photos from departure day from 6Y9 fly in. Planned a day trip with MarkR from the 6Y9'er fly in, flying separately (arrow+rv6). Went over to Land of Lakes for fuel. Then another RAF strip, Hanley, on lake superior (5Y7). Then down to North Fox Island (6Y3) for some beach hiking and swimming, then to Oconto (OCQ) then back home. Full day! 10/10 would recommend.

Enroute to Hanley. I hadn't heard of that airport before but it was a great 4000' grass strip with among the nicest courtesy cars I've ever gotten.

N. Fox Island (population=4). Me + my plane, Mark + his RV6, and a couple who were there in a 310).
Probably the closest you'll ever come to having a private island to yourself!

Island to yourself. Water temp was surprisingly pleasant. A nice 45 min-ish dip into the crystal clear water.

Should probably get back to main land before sunset...

Back over Wisconsin, done fueling and enroute home. Night landing back in Chicagoland.

We were at KEZF and had lunch there several months ago. We went to the museum and got a tour of the DC-3.

The original standalone post got lost when HAL (our anti-bot software) went crazy. As it appears all that stuff is lost forever, I'll just repost it here.

Decided to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 by flying there. My passenger was there that day and saw it happen. Things got a bit emotional.

I realize this is the second time I post a memorial flyover on this thread (7 years, man time flies, ugh). This time for a personal friend and former coworker, which hit harder. It was a tough day. United Pilot, over 3k in the T38, his son is currently a buff driver himself in my old unit. Beautiful family, gone much too soon. Cancer sucks. I was honored to have led his Missing Man over Ft Sam Houston. Godspeed Webs.
