Paoli Peaks ski resort.
Snow all melting. But If you can jump reeeeally far you might get a run in...and then walk back up. Unless you can jump reeeeally reeeeally reeeeally far.
Also wonder how long it takes them to mow.
And if you got enough speed you could transition to water skiing at the end.

That's probably the flattest ski area I've seen. Is it for XC skiing  ?

Breakfast where in the San Juans?
The Salty Fox coffee house in Friday Harbor. A nice walk into town from the airport and a good view of the waterfront while eating my breakfast sandwich. Lots of places are still closed. I was surprised that the San Juan Bakery is closed on weekends.

KLCI has this nice exhibit in the lobby. Filed IFR up there just to practice, easier without an instructor sitting next to me, judging everything I do
And since the flight up and back went so well, I was evened out by getting a flat tire when I landed at home.

That's what I was thinking also.

This is our ski hill, Perfect North Slopes.
My SIL worked at North Star Ski Resort, north shore Lake Tahoe laughed when he saw it.
It don't look like much from the air but they say it can be intimidating?

They were just starting to make snow for the season.
Hey I forgot that Paoli was in Indiana. They have the cheapest 100LL usually and have been there a few times. Did they ever get a credit card reader fuel pump?

Back to Roche Harbor in the San Juan Islands for breakfast at the Lime Kiln Cafe'. This place is just too quaint for its own good.

Short final for runway 25 at Roche Harbor. This is a downhill landing, but there was a fair amount of wind on my nose right down the runway, so no worries!

Hotel de Haro and some of the many flower boxes that line the walkways around the resort.

My plane in the lower parking area. Normal parking is on the grass above this area, but the ground was too soft and they had closed off that area.

Tulip fields in the Skagit Flats on the way home.

The marina at Roche Harbor. Lots of empty slips this time of year. They'll all be full by the time summer rolls around.

My wife and I love Roche Harbor!
I know the guy who built (much of it himself) the castle on the hill. He's the famous "Dr. Snip" (left unexplained as an exercise for the reader). The doc is an amazing fellow. An IR pilot with an amphib C172, he built a house on another island from trees on the lot he milled himself. Meticulous worker. I trusted him with my balls. :)

My best bud did the stained glass for the castle's main door. My buddy is available for private projects here: https://jellomoldfarm.com/

Flew to Shelton's Sanderson Field for the cheapest AVGAS on the west side of Puget Sound. Nice flight down and back.

Looking south down Hood Canal. Sanderson field is past the end of the canal.

The cost per "snip" must be pretty high to afford a castle like that! My bother-in-law should have gone to him. He (my BIL) had 3 vasectomies before he stopped making babies. That's how my sister wound up with 5 kids!

Correction. Played a few hours of ping-pong with my bud and the castle came up in conversation.
The castle on the hill visible from Roche Harbor is NOT Dr. Snip's. His castle is not visible from below. The castle in the earlier photo was built by a dredging magnate or his family.

Not really, he and his wife ran their first practice then I believe they franchised it out.
There are Dr.Snips in Australia, but not sure they are affiliated.

Is that Tahuya on the left?
No, I'm over Dabob bay in this picture looking south. Tahuya is invisible past the end of the land mass beyond the Coyle peninsula. It's all impressive country though. There aren't many places where snow capped mountains descend to salt water. I feel lucky to live in one such place!

I flew to Sanderson field for some "cheap" avgas at just $6.15/gallon. On the way north from there I had a good view of the Cushman Hydro plant at Potlatch. The lake the water comes from is hidden by the terrain. Too bad the lower level is salt water. If it were fresh, this could also work as a pumped hydro project. P4290005.JPG

Brooks Seaplane Service has a gorgeous 1954 Beach 18 on floats, that they keep docked on the downtown waterfront--the first two pics are their file photos. The plane spends most of it's flying time doing scenic flights around Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Yesterday it made the short hop to nearby Hayden Lake, and landed and took off almost in front of our house. Very cool. Apologies for the crappy pic, I barely had time to grab my phone.
