Flew in to some middle of nowhere field in Arkansas. Had 4 hrs to kill. Met some random farmer and his wife who showed me the toys, drove me around town, and fed me lunch. I love the Southern hospitality. These folks never cease to amaze me.
OK, I want to know what the purpose is of the toothpick held to the panel with a binder clip.

Or maybe it's really just there to be a toothpick because, ya know, Arkansas I guess? :dunno:

If he loses his avionics, he can use that to point towards the airport. ha

1st pic is of me and 508AF after my successful checkride flight (on Monday). 2nd pic was from a few days before when there was a fly-in for a crawfish boil at the hangar next to us at KCXO. Beautiful day for it and gorgeous planes.

Congratulations. That big grin is quite appropriate.

Found this cool surprise during my preflight the other day.

I just finished installing a couple of new breakers and 240V outlets in my T hangar and ordered a pile of stainless mandrel bends. Going to bring my TIG welder and DoAll saw out there. Frustrating to have a well-equipped metal fab shop nowhere near a suitable landing strip. :cryin:

Were these headers wrapped? The extra heat + trapping moisture might've exacerbated the header cracking. Have seen it in motorcycles.
