    Sunglasses for Pilots

Folks, After working for a year to find the perfect pair of sunglasses for pilots, I gave up and decided to start my own company. Presenting: Cloudbase-Optics! I worked with lens manufacturer Carl Zeiss for over a year to produce a non-polarized high-quality lens designed to deal with the...

    The Joys of Rotorcraft

Howdy folks! Just checking in, and wanted to share some of my experiences with flying helicopters over the last year or so. So, about a year ago, I made the mistake of taking an intro flight in a R22 helicopter. I'd been a fixed wing pilot for about six years, and figured flying a rotorcraft...

WTB R22 POH and Robinson Flight Training Guide

I'm looking to pick up a R22 POH and the Robinson Flight Training guide, and don't want to spend the seventy bucks Robinson wants for the books. Anybody have these books sitting around?

    Guns and Motorcycles

Since all pilots seems to get into guns and motorcycles, and since so many of our posts seem to involve one of the two, how about two new, separate, places to talk about guns and motorcycles. I'd also like to suggest that the guns section be free from any spin zone content, in other words...

A solution for GA's fuel woes?

http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/NewGAFuelPromises_BetterRange_LowerCost_197810-1.html Interesting article about an inventor who claims that his advanced biofuel could seamlessly replace 100LL, at half the cost. The fuel promises better range, less expense, and none of the traditional E-85...

    Pistol target shooting

I've been thinking about getting into target shooting. I'm looking for a decent .22, probably a semi for practice. I don't care about self defense, and while I loved the .45 compact glock when I got to fire a bit ago, I'm looking for something a little cheaper to load. So I'd love some advice...

    Speeding Ticket

So I've gotten a 73 in a 55 in upstate NY over last weekend's trip. Does anybody have any clue how much this is going to cost me? Any suggestions as what to do with the thing, I'd really rather not have to go 150 miles to fight the thing, but if it's expensive enough I guess I could rent a...

    Warmy fuzzy feeling

So as I reenter the world of the Internet after a nice long break to study for the bar, I'm just overwhelmed with how much good news there has been coming out of GA in the past few weeks. I remember reading the aviation magazines as a kid in the pre GARA mid nineties when general aviation was...

    Do you run?

Since the golfers are having their field day, I was curious to know if anybody on here runs, and what their times/weekly mileages are like. I used to be a college runner mostly middle distance and cross country, and I still try to run about four miles a day. Today my focus is much more on...

    Senate bill for FAA reauthorization

The proposed senate bill will keep fuel taxes for piston powered GA exactly where they currently are, and introduce departure fees for turbine powered corporate aviation and commercial aviation. The senate, according to the article posted, is typically more airline friendly (less GA friendly)...

    Flying in the NY Times

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/26/fashion/26pilot.html?_r=1&oref=slogin The NYT has published an article about the declining number of private pilots. It's a pretty interesting read. One of the theories put forth is that in today's households women make many of the decisions, and no longer are...

In the ATL area next week?

I'm heading down to ATL next week, and I'll be around for a week or so, I'd love to meet up with the local Georgia pilots. Last time I was in town, Lance and his friend David(?) met me at PDK for some food and BS. I had a great time! I'd love to meet up if anybody will be around. Rob

Some text is unreadable in command prompt

I recently installed one of the free ATC simulators on my computer and I noticed that all the text is not clear, especially numbers. Thinking it was the software I installed a different program, and noticed the same problem. Any clues what is wrong, or how to fix it?

    C172 Rudder pedal issues

Flying a rental 172 this evening, I noticed after a few stop and goes, that the left rudder pedal would snap back to full out as soon as I took my foot of the pedal. Not an issue to make flying difficult, just a little awkward. So even if the right rudder pedal wasn't depressed the left pedal...
