Getting older, high intensity lights too bright!

So almost 20 years ago when I would ride left seat as a medic in the Dauphin we flew, I could barely see the gauges at night. Our older well seasoned pilots would all just barely keep the lights lit inside. Of course a lot of this was to help their night vision, but damn they were barely...

Airtech coating for hangar floor...anyone use it?

Getting closer to completion of the hangar. I want to coat the floor although I may have to wait till next spring for some good temps. Quote from Airtech $2800 for supplies for 3000 square foot floor. I've read 1 post saying it was the best. Anyone install it in their hangar?

Pa-28 down on Rabbit Ears pass outside Steamboat

Local news reporting PA 28 went down on top of Rabbit Ears pass today. Apparently rescue teams haven't reached the site as of yet but CAP aircraft located the fuselage after tracking its signal. Hopefully thoughts and prayers that the 2 on board just bruised up.

Desire for entry level taildragger after OSH....

Well after drooling over many of the warbirds this last weekend at OSH I'm considering a taildragger. The mission would be to fly low and slow and build some time. I would consider something like a citabria for some easy aerobatics. No need for long distance as we have a family traveler...

Remembered keys...took young pilot to be on first flight!!

So while doing a sports physical on 16 year old young man last month I asked how school was going and what he wanted to do after. I always do this so I can prod them about how important school and goals in life are! So the kiddo says he wants to be a pilot, of course i'm digging it so offer him...

    Ever forgot the keys...

So I set out this morning to drive the 42 miles to small town where I keep my plane. Got the 11 year old up at 630 to teach him sleeping all day doesn't get you anywhere. Of course I had it pulled out ready to go by the family that runs our airport. Upon checking my front baggage compartment...

So wife agreed to go and stay at Hangar Hotel for a few days in June for our 18th Anniversary. Last time we were there my son was 20 months old 10 years go. Hopefully he isn't the reason why they no longer take kids?? I'm still VFR, so IFR not an option. I'm considering flying to kremmling...

TFR not mentioned during briefing....pop up?

Got my normal wx brief before departing San Diego to Mesquite, NV and got clear sailing for the entire route. No weather, no notams that applied and no TFRs. Normally I check just before I fly but this time it was 2 hours before my flight, since nothing was changing for a long time I opted to...

What started out as quick fuel stop (and ****tiest landing in a long time) in Page, Az things turned south...
