So spring break started one day early for the kiddos as I wanted to get out of NW Colorado before weather moved in. Nice uneventful flight over the Canyonlands and some beautiful scenery! What started out as quick fuel stop (and ****tiest landing in a long time) in Page, Az things turned south quickly. My intentions to fly across the Grand Canyon and onward to KSEE (San Diego) were brought to a halt by the weather briefer. He advised me that the weather at KSEE had not cleared as it was forecast, mountains were obscured and now there was mod icing airmet over most of my route south of Grand Canyon.

We discussed our options and headed to Boulder City, NV. Home of B.F.E. FBO, love the name!! After the applause from my kids in back when we touched down I took the kiddos to a cheesy all you can eat huge buffet (their first and probably last one) in a casino on way to LAs Vegas. They were so impressed with Hoover dam also! Mom and I figured what else would they get out of a few hours near Vegas? They were quite impressed with the food selection and scenery for sure!

Awoke early this am, rested and ready to go, and a short 2:30 hours later my family was ready!! Departed KBVU at 10 am shortly after noticed my EGT temp on #2 cylinder went sky high then died, then the JPI instrument said "bad problem" so I diverted back to Boulder City immediately. The probe had come out of the second cylinder exhaust and was hanging there. So nice AP repaired it and an hour and half later I took off again after normal run up. Well just after lift off I lost temp on #2 cylinder again and stayed in pattern where I just landed again and had the nice AP took another shot at repairing the probe.

After the EGT probe debacle we had uneventful flight to KSEE where I was able to impress the kiddos with a short field landing technique when I was told to switch to the shorter 27L (they weren't impressed).

I was so impressed with my surprise skill of the short field landing in the new aircraft I forgot to get the small bag out of the front baggage compartment of the aircraft. While the entire family has clothes and are currently lounging around the hotel Dad sits in the only clothes he has. Tomorrow I drive back to the airport and get my clothes!
