Amelia Earhart's long-lost plane likely located

I don't know, if you have to use a submarine to find your airplane, perhaps you have a different problem than you think you have.

Well ... in fishing terminology, we got another nibble: https://www.foxnews.com/travel/pilo...ia-earharts-missing-plane-pacific-island-reef

"The bottom line is, from my interests from a child in vintage aircraft and air crash investigation, I can say that is what was once a 12-metre, 2-engine vintage aircraft," he told Popular Mechanics, adding the caveat that he’s not sure it’s Earhart’s.

So, he read the same books all of us did as kids and he watches Blancolirio.

It also cracked me up that he contacted the US and Australian NTSB and they didn’t care. Why would he think they’d care about a crash that happened before 99% of the people on earth were even born?

Excellent article, thanks!

Perhaps prioritizing publicity-seeking over familiarity with the avionics was an issue that Earhart and She-who must not be named had in common.
I'd bet they were counting on Noonan's expertise in celestial navigation. Everything else was considered secondary or tertiary.

Is this not them?

Looks like the search is a go, starting in October...

Also, TIGHAR doesn't seem to be involved. Have they already had their tropical vacation for the year?

But why did the coconut tree fall and why did it take so long to find the down tree?

Never have seen a Palm Tree with wings, much less nacelles although there are some large Coconuts around.

You’re more likely to have an encounter with Sasquatch/Bigfoot/Yeti than finding her downed Electra.

Coconut crabs!

"Coconut crabs’ broad diets have even led some to suggest that the reason famed aviator Amelia Earhart was never found when she disappeared mid-flight over the Pacific Ocean in 1937, was because she was devoured by coconut crabs after perishing on Nikumaroro island."

Clearly, they ate the airplane too!
