    New airport restaurants in NorCal

Thanks for the news. I live near Sacto and will try these out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Anxiety Meds and 3rd Class License

No it's not. Many millions of Americans take these and perform just fine: driving, working, etc. The FAA's policy on this is stupid, like many of their policies. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Lower Back Maintenance

That's the age when Lower Back Pain starts for many. Get in the habit of walking, 30-60 mins a day. If it continues tweaky see a physical therapist and they will teach you exercises to control it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    CFI depression

Sorry to say, but flight instructors are like graduate students: highly skilled, poor wages, gaining hours and experience for a real job. Neither flight instructing nor graduate student research is expected to be a career. I've seen long term instructors but they're all retired with a separate...

Andreini Family Suing Air Force for $10 Million

Ok, let's say the rescue crews got there too late, causing or contributing to his death. Seems like a lot of money to ask for someone doing an inherently life-risking activity. And what about that poor Chinese girl that was run over and killed by an SFO fire truck *after* surviving the Asiana...

    Tapatalk Crashing - Anybody Else?

I think this is what happened to me. It used to work, it quit working, then started working again. Don't think it was due to new versions either. Sometimes the gizmotronics, like god, work in mysterious ways.

    WingX for free for CFI's

This. While in reality both are good flight apps with the edge to WingX, FF gets all the love because of its looks. Also FF does a much better marketing job with the exception of this last move by WingX. I'm sure what prompted WingX was the splashy announcement by FF of synthetic view, which...

    undiagnosed sleep apnea/upcoming medical

Half the American population would be diagnosed with sleep apnea if they were all tested. Unless you feel tired every day, etc. just forget this. Especially don't put this "diagnosis" from your wife on your medical application.

    Tapatalk Crashing - Anybody Else?

A few weeks ago it quit working (iPad). I did something or they did and it's working again. Try uninstalling, powering your iPad off and on, and reinstalling. Also read the recent comments on the app in the App Store, they might have hints.

    CFI Problem

It's not uncommon to find someone well-versed in a subject who is simply a bad teacher. Sounds like your instructor is one of those. It's certainly possible to teach flying without being an *******, so please look for another instructor.

    Low Altitude Flying

In addition to the excellent answers here advising caution (OP: ignore the stupid macho posturing), I suggest every pilot get "The Thinking Pilot's Flight Manual" by Rick Durden, which has a lot about low altitude flying and scud running. I pretty much don't fly below 1000' AGL anymore away from...

    Flight Planning to Central America

I have never flown a GA plane to Mexico. But I've always heard good things about the Baja Bush Pilots http://www.bajabushpilots.com/ group. Don't be fooled by the name, they fly to all of Mexico and more, and in all sorts of planes.

Engine out- Xavion will land it...?!?!?

I'm curious how it connects to autopilots via wifi. I'm building an RV-9A, with Dynon APs, and there is no provision for wifi connection. Nor would I want one! A wired connection, sure. As other commenters have said, I hope the Xavion maker is in negotiations with WingX and ForeFlight to...

    The late great NFL

I quit watching because of the constant interruptions for commercials...one time using TiVo and jumping past the adverts I saw an entire game in a bit less than an hour. Watching some soccer during World Cup, I was surprised at how enjoyable it was to just watch the "action" without the adverts.

    NorCal Favorite Airports

And the scenery, especially if you're coming from the east or north over San Francisco and the Golden Gate. Watsonville is an easy flight and I believe still has a good restaurant on field. Auburn is easy too and has a restaurant on field. McClellan has a good museum on field.

thank you notes from 8 year old

My nearly adult nephews and niece never acknowledged our gifts. It bugged me that their hyper Christian parents couldn't teach this basic part of life. Finally I wrote them each a letter explaining that the expression of gratitude in life would be a useful trait in adulthood and the real world...

    Preflights optional I guess...

You just gave me a thought. Maybe it would help to think of a "pre-flight" inspection as a "post-flight" inspection for stuff that happened during operation, when bad things are more likely to occur. However, we do this post-flight look before flight so call it that. Thinking this way, it...
