I had a nice conversation yesterday with a pipeline pilot who's movin' up to the airlines. I knew they were short of pilots, but it sounds like they're having a fire sale for anyone with a couple hundred hours. Ah, to be young again.

I was talking to a gentleman yesterday who'd had an electric AC installed in his 182. He said it worked beautifully, even here in Texas. Anyone else had firsthand experience?

While visiting my mother in the hospital this morning, a doctor (not her surgeon, but an "associate" who looked to be about 22) came into her room for less than 1 minute. Based on experiences of friends, I'm guessing this will be billed $200-300. :mad2: What can you do?

Talked to a very friendly controller at HQZ about why they don't require previous ATC contact, yet I got my butt chewed (well, nibbled lightly) for not calling Approach first when going into ADS -- both class D airports in the greater DFW monsterplex. He said that ADS uses ATC for sequencing...

I have a friend who has a farm with a short (~900' , tall trees one end) grass strip. He used to fly ultralights, but now is thinking about a real plane. I suggested a Super Cub, but he is a little scared of taildraggers (but I suspect he might change his mind). Suggestions?
