I love looking at your work.
He does beautiful work.
It's going to be a sweet ride.
So what price tag are you going to put on it?
nice. I didn't realize the plane in your avatar was a work in progress.
Cessna never built 'em so well!
Think 1948, the work force had just built the biggest air force in the world, they knew how to build aircraft. The workers on the cessna line were for the most part workers trained by the builders of the WW II war machine.
While that is all true, what Spike meant is that Cessna never built the airplane as well as what the end product is coming out of your shop.
I started with a very nice old airframe and upgraded it as necessary.
This is probably the only 170 left with the OEM rudder skins that are spot welded not riveted like most you see.
I didn't know you had finished the paint work...the aircraft looks great. Some nice springtime flying is in your future.
So the fuselage and wings are painted, then?
Hard for me to tell. I don't know if it's my screen or how I see them in the hangar, but I could see it either way (painted or polished).
THe wings are fabric and of course painted, the fuselage and controls came from the factory polished, but some one in the past scotchbrighted them, so I couldn't polish again, so they are painted silver, I have one wing to re-sand and then apply top coat.

the magic of a paint file
Makes my shoulder hurt just looking at it. Then again my left is way overused due to missing hand on the right.
$50 worth of new bolts to install the wings.

Never heard of a paint file. How does that work?
How come there's only one sheer nut?
Labor of love, right?
No, my wife and I need a common enemy.
Heh. They need to teach this in marriage counseling.
But **** off Karen (I'm already ****ed off at that point...) and you're living on borrowed time.
Karen = Hulk in that case. You don't want to see Hulk angry. Hulk smash! She just tells me where to focus my cover fire.
one wing on today.
now the work starts
