What didn't you do today?

So does the repair cost come out of your paycheck?
The window held up. Apparently the only to break windows at the airline is trying to kill wasps with the QRH.
We have had 3 windshields break this year because of someone swatting a bufg with the flight manual.

We got a company wide email yesterday explaining that it happened again on Monday and the windshields cost about 35 grand.
Birds? No problem. Mosquitos and its game over.

1 - congrats!
2 - maybe they shouldn't make the QRH out of metal? or issue you guys a plastic fly swatter? You can buy a lot of fly swatters for $35,000.

They need some of these bad boys:

Teresa got me one as a joke, and it's been life changing. I added a laser. I've killed thousands of flies with it.

*not responsible for damage to avionics caused by errant table salt....

I've got one of those bad boys. Indeed, a cool tool.

In other news - I did NOT get to the airport today. Instead, I got to the DMV "near" my one airport - to get my Miata inspected and have the tags renewed for another two years. Then, when I got home, I actually managed to get the AC pumping out cold air. I had ordered a DIY AC recharge kit from Amazon - worked like a champ.

Maybe you could ask each pilot for their credit card number on initial call-up...
Might be the only time that I, as a pilot get to say, "stand by, I have a number for you to copy".

But sorry to hear that on the pay front. Hope it's resolved and cashflow resumes right quick and in a hurry.

I didn't do any yard work yesterday and I'm not doing any today.

I didn’t put the gas cap back on the RV after filling up.

Turns out, Ford had spare parts left from 2003 when they built my 2004…took a little internet sleuthing to figure it out.

I didn't need to replace my smoke detector batteries

What kind of range does it have?
About 8-10 inches, so you still have to be a little sneaky. Stings a bit out to a couple feet, but i have shot flies off my legs and it's not that bad.

I've got a dog that hunts flies in the house. Any flying insect drives her bonkers.

In my youth, when I was a beekeeper my beloved dog would eat bees. Funny to watch her trying to avoid getting stung. Lots of gumming and tongue movement. She'd get them wet, spit them out, pick them up, and start over until she crunched them. They must have been sweet, and she didn't seem to mind the stings. After a few times, I left her in the house or car when working the hives. I never had to remove a stinger from her tongue, so maybe those little barbs don't work in tongue tissue or the tongue is too tough to penetrate or maybe she never gave the bees enough time to latch onto her tongue with their claws.*

*Bees (NOT WASPs) have to latch onto what they are stinging hard enough for their tiny, serrated stingers to fully pierce the flesh, so the musculature can drill the stinger deep enough so when the bee flies off it does not rip from the victim as the bee gets it's guts ripped out.
The ultimate sacrifice in defense of its hive and queen.

Anatomy of the honeybee stinger:

I did not get to fly today. Rain. But I did get to fly two other days this week. It's been a decent week thus far.

didn't buy a new electric mower... because I fixed the pull cord on my mower and adjusted the clutch. (so, I will continue to directly burn fossil fuels powering my lawnmower rather than have a pollute-elsewhere electric mower)
