What didn't you do today?

I did not manage to fit this spacer (3/4" OD) inside of this pulley (85/128" ID). Yes, these are the correct parts.

You probably won't get it to to fit today, either. Unless your tool collection is on the same level as a machine shop and you can modify the spacer or the bearing.

or have a heavy hammer and persistence

I was going to make a 'hit it with your purse' joke, but I'm trying to spread kindness and joy, and didn't want to ruin that today by offending anyone not fortunate enough to own a purse. Fingers crossed I make it through the day!

85/128 = .664
3/4 = .750

I wouldn't expect it to even have a chance fit.

I wonder if Mr. Cheesehead could hammer the old spacer out and reuse it. It looks smaller than the new one.

Edit: phone autocorrected cheesehead to cheesecake.

Probably depends if he has a punch in his purse or not. :p

Beats putting a spacer on a lathe and cutting 43/1000s off it, for what looks like a lawnmower deck pulley.

I wish I had a lathe. Without that, stop reading now if you're easily offended, you could always try putting a bolt through the "bushing" and chucking that in a variable speed drill set to a slow speed, and sanding the bushing with a flap wheel on an angle grinder. It'll probably go faster than you think. If the application isn't critical or fast it might be good enough.

I didn't go back to work after lunch because... I RETIRED TODAY!

Heh. I went back to work after lunch today even though I’ve retired from one career. Nit enough AMUs available otherwise.

Didn't start my new job. Got a phone call that they're going to shut down the company at the end of May, so never mind. :mad2: :frown2:

Now I'm looking for another new job. :(

Both my former Alaska employer and my current medevac employer are looking for pilots. Rotor and fixed wing, (especially King Air). PM for any details.

I went back to the shop and they looked at it and were confused... Then they went and got another spacer in back and it was smaller. Briggs & Stratton pretty much eviscerated Simplicity so their QA probably tanked a while ago. But by the time they figured it out their mechanic managed to get the old spacer out, so they gave me a refund and I went on my way.

I guess now I need a new excuse to give my wife as to why I "need" a hydraulic press.

I have had dreams for years that my time would come in a police shootout with the Feds over IRS and or CA FTB agents.

That didn't happen today.

But it was close.

These things don't happen with a Piper.
I got to sit right seat in a King Air for a short maintenance flight with a lady who goes by that name. It isn't her real name, but, for me, these things DO happen with a Piper.

She is known by some folks over at the Purple Board. Corp pilot and owner of a flight school. I have posted about it in other threads.

Plus I did own two Arrows. A lot happened with those Pipers.
