What did you do today?

For some reason, I instantly thought of Jackie Gleason in Smokey and the Bandit! They don't make movies like that anymore...perhaps that's a good thing? o_O

I was never a Jackie Gleason fan (though I thought he was good in The Hustler), but I can't imagine anyone playing Buford T. Justice better than he did. He was spot-on perfect in that role. Best line in the movie - "The GD Germans got nothin' to do with it!"

A phrase made popular by Al Capone and Chicago organized crime. Even though the phrase been around long before then, they took it up a notch by not requiring one to actually be living to adhere to the principle.
Albany did that too, and kinda one upped Chicago, in that as I understand it the reason there was no violence here during prohibition was because the mayor's office and the police department were the ones supplying the booze. Not confirmed, but not kidding, either.

He was full of himself for sure, but the whole cast of The Honeymooners is impressive to me. Every show live every time...they kinda set the standard for every sitcom to follow.

Up at 3:30AM to catch a commercial flight to FLL from ORD. Rented 2 trucks. The first one had a dead battery in the lot. Drove to a home Depot in Hialeah to pick up ratchet straps and moving blanket. Picked up my band saw and headed north. Made it to Valdosta before deciding I need some rest.IMG_3408.jpeg

Drove the convertible to the airport and flew the biplane for the first time since early November.

Hard to believe we had a blizzard a few days ago and it's going to be 70° tomorrow afternoon.

Last Saturday it was 70 so I did give inspections. Sunday was thunderstorms. Monday snowed 4 inches. Then everything froze for a few days. Now I'm bringing the Florida weather back with me. You're welcome.

70 degrees and sunny today in the Colorado mountains. Worst ski season in recorded history. I think some of the big names are going to close by end of March.

Got half way into a radiator replacement in one of our box trucks. This is dumb, my back hurts. I'm going flying.

Doesn't bode well for meltwater and some of the reservoirs down stream.

Rolled my other ankle. Yes other, I rolled the first one a month ago in a separate incident. When the ER doctor during the first time warned me my ankle would be more susceptible to injury, he didnt specify it would be the other one. Great start to the year.

A trip to the er for a rolled ankle must have been pretty bad. Any diagnosis? When I rolled mine a few years ago I ended up with a displaced pseudo Jones fracture. Knew it was broke before I hit the deck. I heard it.

Hope for speedy recoveries.

Sorry to hear. I rolled my ankles a lot in the Army, usually walking at night in the woods.

Recommend you get some PT. Some of the exercises really help with stability. My favorite is standing on one foot and dribbling a tennis ball.

The first one felt and heard a distinctive pop and couldnt bear any weight whatsoever, so decided an ER visit and xray was necessary. No breaks were found, so RICE.

The second one was the same, but so far have opted for no doctor. However the 2nd one I can bear weight and walk, gingerly, although it is much more swollen and has bruising on either side of my foot. I may go see ortho if it doesn't improve over the next several days.

I've never had a problem with legs, ankles, or feet before, even as an ice hockey player. I'm not sure if this is just an odd coincidence, the wrong shoes, clumsiness, or what?

When I broke mine I was taping the drywall in the apartment I built above the detached garage. The dog was sleeping in her bed. Decided to turn off the lights and hustled down the stairs to see how quick shed find me. Bottom of the stairs I skip the last few, jump the corner to try and get under the staircase. Only problem was I left a bag of ice melt at the base of the stairs. Couldn't see it because lights were off.

Left foot landed on the corner of the bag. Ankle rolled. Pop. Stayed down a few minutes. Gingerly took my shoe off. Already a bump on the outside of my foot. Tried calling my dad/neighbor to let him know. Didn't pick up. Hopped on one leg about 100 yards to his house to show off my stupidity. Hopped back to my house to shower. By that time the whole foot was swollen. Drove to the er not to see if it was broke but to confirm. Foot was absolutely throbbing all night. Swollen and blue. And then a purple line from my heel all the way up to my little toe.

First Ortho said it was displaced 3-5mm but no surgery. Went to another ortho for a second opinion. No need for surgery. Got lucky in the location. A few mm up on that same bone would have required surgery. Jones vs pseudo Jones fracture. Pain free today unless I'm sitting cross legged. The bone sticks out on that foot and all the weight is right on that bone.

I'd head to an ortho just in case. The Jones fracture has a high rate of non union due to blood supply

Wired up the new saw for 3ph. Found out why it was in an auction. Return microswitch stuck down. No other functions would work. Took all of 10 minutes. Works great.

Did a flight to another airport for taco Tuesday and enjoyed three shrimp tacos.

1. Had a nice bike ride and a free burger long story.
2. Got in to a stupid POA debate
3. Got in to a stupid POA debate X2

Well I did it. Wife convinced me to go to a doctor Monday. Xray showed no breaks, but MRI showed two completely sheared ligaments and a third sprained. Explains all the swelling and bruising. Now scheduling surgery to repair it all.

Oof. I think I'd rather have a break. Best of luck in recovery
