What did you do today?

Got shot yesterday.

In the hip.

At the doctors office.

Told I was too old for a lollipop...

Sounds like it's time for a new doctor. Be sure to check the online reviews to see which docs give lolipops, and don't forget to post a review letting everyone know that your doc doesn't.

Read the story about power outages, looked outside and realized we do not have any above ground power lines in my winter town.

We also don't have any trees that can't handle snow and ice. 300 inches a year keeps 'em pruned.

Finished installing the cabinets in the garage.
GarageCabinets.jpg

Been working on getting the garage back in shape for a little more than a year. First problem was that the walls and ceiling were in bad shape. There were four holes in the ceiling that were needed to install a 240 volt line, a big dent on the front wall on my wife's side where she drove her minivan into it (twice), various dings and dents from use, and worst of all, a whole bunch of cracks in the ceiling. It appears to me that the drywall guys didn't bother to embed the tape into drywall compound. I went up on a ladder, found a piece of tape sticking in the crack, and then pull it down from the front wall to the garage doors, leaving a two inch wide gap in the joint, and a whole bunch of chips of drywall mud.

I'm almost done, need to spiff up the single stair leading into the house, but have to wait until the entry door gets replaced, which should be done mid February.

Went to the airport today...

...to fill a couple of cans with avgas for my snowblower and generator (I run avgas in all my small engines). But due to the cold (though it's not even that cold yet), the pump wasn't working. Glad I wasn't trying to get somewhere with my plane, and also glad I still have about 7 gallons still on hand. Of course I took a few minutes to visit my plane in the hangar so it wouldn't be lonely. :) Went for a hike in the state forest on the way home.

Sunday's forecast says I'll have to shovel around 14" of global warming. That's not unusual here, but the forecast low temp tonight makes me worry about frozen pipes.

Spent the day getting ready for "Fern".
Plenty of pellets for the stove, plenty of fuel for the generator, plenty of food in the fridge, and enough adult beverage to last me until May.

It's comments like these that we REALLY need a middle finger emoji.
We don't have scorpions. We don't have snakes. We don't have alligators. We don't have giant scary spiders. We don't have hurricanes.

And all of that is BECAUSE of the cold. Bring on the cold! Die, nasty critters, die!

We don't have a state income tax. And that is because of the tourists, and that's because of the warm winter sunshine.

I did my prep for the expected snow, which consisted of looking at the weather forecast and sighing.

It's upstate NY, it's 1-2' of snow expected, it'll be fine unless the power goes out, then it'll just be annoying. Roads will be clear in a day.

Somehow snakes do survive here, but alligators and scorpions don't.

Yeah, I know. I fly people down there a lot. And they're all smart enough to leave quickly. ;)

(I'd rather pay the taxes and live here, myself... Though I might be less sure of that for the next month or so.)

Yeah, -24 windchill in Milwaukee this morning. This place sucks. Will be at the Baird Center all day.

I am really hoping that she gets the hint that it's time for buns to be *out* of the oven now!
Teresa had to be induced for all five of ours. OB wouldn't let us go past 42 weeks. I've heard walking helps, but it didn't work for us :dunno:

If walking helped this one come on time, she would have been born already. I keep walking because maybe it will eventually help, but I've walked over 300 miles so far this pregnancy and well...

Hang in there. We'll say a prayer for you.

Did a short test flight to try out my Starlink mini. Pretty impressive numbers. I think I’ll like having it.

I went running on the Riverwalk along the Chattahoochee, three people were taking a ride in a bass boat. It was about 45 degrees and overcast. Definitely not something I'd have enjoyed.
