Just ordered an iphone. I hate myself already. But ill be saving 130 bucks a month and be able to use it as a backup to my ipad when that over heats.

Keep it out of the sun, it shouldn't overheat if not in direct sunlight.

I felt the same way when I got my first iPhone. It was a corporate phone, back when my employer was still doing that. Now I wouldn't go back. I've got the phone, AirPods Pro, a MacBook Air that my last employer abandoned, and I'm thinking I may have an Apple Watch before the end of the week. Yeah, I know, I know. But I hatred Apple less than I hatred Google.

I have to thank my bil for getting me onboard with i-devices early.
I have zero regrets overall.
Focus on the functionality, ignore all the politics and internet drivel about them.
They are amazing.

You'll save money by switching to iPhone? That's surprising.
My phone and Internet bill at home is 165 a month. I have Verizon Internet at work. I added a second box and will be using that at home....cuz I work from home sometimes. Plus my at&t Internet sucks. I don't live in a subdivision and there's not enough people in the area where I've got other options Internet wise.

Boost mobile says free iPhone 16 pro if you sign up for the 65 dollar unlimited plan.

I think Im beginning to feel this way...tired of seeing storage 85% full give us money to make it go away.
Oh... you won't avoid that with Apple. But I'm paying about $35 a year for enough shared storage to keep my stuff and my wife's, and I don't have to back anything up, on her iPad/iPhone or mine. I'm OK with that.

Dammit

First 5 GB of iCloud is free. Of course, just to back up the OS and nothing else takes 2.5GB.

It's not actually free. It's a loan, and the payments are built into your monthly charge. You'll be paying for it over the next three years.

Meant to put "free" in quotes.

Apple doesn't send you ads repeatedly though. Not sure exactly what Google does, but it's likely more annoying!

Actually if your provider has a rebate program, it can be free.

With ATT I updated to a 16 pro from a 12 pro max and it was a wash.

Drank the Mac kool-aid early with an SE-30 in 1988 and there was a time I thought they were done prior to OSX but now own the whole ecosystem just because it works. I did a lot of work on Windows and Linux during my career and fluent in all of it and never want to deal with sys admin issues again.

This. People used to say "You have a MAC?!? But you're a computer guy!" And I'd say, "Yup, and the last thing I want to do after reinstalling Windows for you all day is to go home and have to do it for myself."

These days, with the interoperability between Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, AppleTVs, and HomePods, it's even better to be an Apple user. Never perfect, but it sure is nice when things just work without having to do a bunch of prep work to get them there.

Not ads, no. Just an annoying, nagging "to me anyway" little red bubble nagging that your photos aren't backed up because you're out of storage.

Our company had two mobile phones in the mid 90's. That one, and one that weighed five pounds and fit in a canvas bag, complete with a telephone style receiver.

Obviously I liked the 'cell phone' even if it didn't fit in a normal size pocket. The thing looked and felt like it was manufactured by Mattel.

My first was mounted in my car... later on I removed it and put it in a bag with a lead-acid battery from a UPS to make it portable. Then there was a Motorola Dynatac "brick", then ny first company issued phone, a StarTac in '99 or 2000. Long string of LG, Nokia, Samsung, another couple of Motorolas in there... finally an iPhone 6 in 2016-ish, maybe '17. I know the 7 was just out at the time, but our corporate overlords weren't buying the more expensive ones for us peons.

Uh, oh. Not only iPhone, iPad and iWatch - but also a low wing airplane. LOL

Confirmed: Apple Watch gets added to the stable tomorrow morning, as soon as the Amazon truck arrives.

I read the title and thought "Oh no, somebody bought a new Windows computer". :)

But in all seriousness, I'm issued an iPhone for work, have used it every day for a number of years, gone through 3 of them so far. Eh. Interface is clunky, as if they want to make it weird on purpose. My personal phone, that I use a lot less, is Android, as are my tablets. Easier for me, less expensive, I like it. But I get those that have use Apple for work, or use it because most in the industry uses Apple. My brother is in the music business, and everyone uses Mac for that because it's cool, so that's mostly what he uses.

My first thought of Apple? Goes back to the Apple 2 days where they sold them as being more "cool" than practical. Then there was the Mac, which if my memory is right was a cheap version of the Lisa, and that it didn't have either a power switch or a way to toggle the DTR serial port signal, so I helped the one guy in the dorm that had one make both for it. Apple is a marketing company that also sells computer stuff. Just my 2 cents, and probably too much get off my lawn in this one.

My position as well, but with the original 128k Macintosh in 1985.
Oooh, it was amazing yet sometimes painful back then! Mac Plus, 1986 here. I think I'm on my 11th daily driver along with an assortment of other things. I've used an awful lot of their categories in addition to the Macs too.

They've changed a lot in the past 40 years, ya know. ;)

And while they are good at marketing, they finally got the rest of their act together about 20 years ago, give or take a few, so that they have the products to match.

Don't forget your password!
Yeah, speaking of that:

How do you stop an iPad from constantly asking for your password?

It does this to me several times a day, then if I am stupid enough to actually enter my password, it locks me out and forces me to use a different device to respond to an unlock email.

WTF?!??!?!

If it weren't for Foreflight, I would have tossed this thing in the trash already.
