To the darkside

Touch screen accuracy is absolutely dreadful. Some cool functions. But the inability to accurately get the cursor to go where I want it to go is hammer worthy.

Perusing reddit it seems to be a common complaint with iOS 18 update.

Why are photos sorted so that newest photos are at the bottom? The most recent photos, the ones that you're most likely to show off should be at the top of the scroll.

Sure sounds like all the aggravation and unhappiness isn’t worth the money you’re saving.

Meh. I'll get used to it. Just don't quite understand the reason behind some things.

Also, the audio on a call is bad on the 16pro. iPhone fiends who have had previous models have complained about the quality on this model and apple told em to deal with it.

It's like there's no bass. Everything very flat. Speaker itself playing music is great.

Y’all want to talk about the dark side? I’m about to pull the trigger on a mac mini and all the magic accessories, get an iPad, and get Foreflight w/Jeppe$en.

Weird. I don't have that problem... Maybe Android just interprets touches differently than iOS does? In fact, it's almost certain that they do.

Are you right or left handed?

I haven't noticed a difference. :dunno:

I'm not particularly a fan of the latest version of the photos app - But it does kinda make sense. They put you right at the newest photos when you first open the app, where you'll want to be to show things off like you said. Scroll up to get to older photos, or scroll down to get to albums, faces, places, and the automatic media type categories. Once you start scrolling up through your library, you'll see the Years|Months|Days controls appear to jump around more quickly.

Not how my library opens. First photos that show at the top in my library are march 2023. Have to scroll through a ton to get to present day.

I'm sure I'll get the hang of the nuances of typing. But I've already switched keyboards. I like having a period on screen. I am right handed fwiw. A couple times I tried clicking an "x" near the edge of the screen and it took at least half a dozen tries. The last 3 paying very close attention to finger placement.

Edit: I see what youre saying with photos. When opening the app it puts you at the bottom and scroll up to go back...but only if it was properly closed. Otherwise it opens wherever it was "closed" last

You can always force quit it and get back to it opening on the new stuff. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and then sideways, as if you were going to switch apps, but then tap the app and swipe it up off the screen.

Hitting the space bar twice gets you a period and a space. That said, I use the "Swype" keyboard that I think is now just the "slide to type" option. Settings->General->Keyboards. That has made my typing much faster and resulted in fewer autocorrect errors.

Never cared for slide to type. Tried. Made things much worse.

As for photos, I think I figured it out. Close by sliding and it reverts to wherever you were. Hit the x then slide to close and it goes to bottom of album where the most recent is. Force close does the same. Seems like an unnecessary step.

Already missing the shake to turn flashlight on function. Backtap function is awkward and not as reliable

I have NEVER seen the app do that.

Maybe it was a programmers revenge for all the people who top-post :-)

Well, I guess now at least you know where to turn it off. ;)

You can also make it from the side button, I think... But it's also always there in the lower left corner of the lock screen which is plenty convenient.

Shake on the iPhone is Undo.

Yep. Made the side button the flashlight. Didn't care for the long push on the home screen.

New gripe. Attention aware. Missed my alarm this morning.

I'll figure out the settings... Eventually

Wait until you notice the commingled notifications. Android was stellar at filtering out notification spam. Now if I want to get a notification about my current Uber, I need to suffer the Uber One promotions. Same with Starbucks -- I want the tipping notification but to accept it, I need also suffer the "omg double stars Karen!" notifications. That was an easy one though. No Baristae will be tipped by my iphone ever again. It's corporate's fault that I've become Mister Pink. :P

My photos are sorted latest-last also and I'm assuming I'll solve that eventually because no sane programmer would do that... right? right?

Or you turn off uber notifications until you need an uber. Prob solved.

aint nobody got time for that :P

Although now that you have me thinking about it, if I'm on a ride, I likely have the app up that I used to summon said ride, so... maybe I ditch those too, although I still want to tip these dudes. I get picked up/dropped off in the stupidest podunk airports and wish that to continue :)

I do it all the time, easy peasy. If “clicking a button” is too hard, maybe a flip phone would be more your style hiyoooooo

Nah. Its dumb. Sure its easy but I'm lazy and would rather turn everything off out of spite.

With elderly parents and kids, the Apple ecosystem is a no brainer. Nothing can compete.
Not if theyve been with android. Stick to what's familiar. Not what you think is better because youre used to it

Attention has nothing to do with your alarm. I don't know anyone who pays attention to their phone before the alarm goes off. ;) You can turn off the attention thing anyway.

I've found the number one reason why I miss alarms is that I have my volume on, but at the lowest possible setting. The alarm obeys your volume settings, right up until you turn it all the way down (off) because hey, it's an alarm, so they know you want it to ring, right? So if the volume is off it goes off at a moderate volume, but if you have the volume on but way low, you might be able to sleep right through it. I know I can.

Yep... Everything takes some getting used to.
