My Gleim flight bag is finally wearing out after 8 years and a few zipper repairs.

Need a similar sized bag to carry usual stuff - tablet, log book, knee board, notebook, flashlight, and a few spare batteries.

What is the favorite bag these days?

It's my BDay, so the grown children can be generous..... (No, not looking for leather - just a regular bag).

Looking for something easy to carry and put in back seat so I can reach if I need things - not packing a tooth brush and change of clothes mind you.

I use Datsusara bags (non-aviation). Very durable last forever type bags. Camera bags work well too. Big pocket for headset, compartments for tablet, batteries or ADS-B receiver slide into lens pockets, etc. Some are pricey but look cool and functional.

Very durable. It's been my flight bag for close to ten years with heavy airline use and it barely shows any wear.

The real benefit is that you customize the large, inside pocket to fit your needs with the various inserts that they offer.

I'll send you my Gleim if you want. I prefer a backpack.

I have a cheap backpack from Walmart. I sprung and bought a “remove before flight” key ring to put on a zipper so it clear what it is.

It works just as well as any other fight bag I’ve had.

My first CFI told me to skip a flight bag in favor of a backpack because his reasoning was that it's easier to carry in case you need to hike somewhere after an off-airport landing.

I got mine from Goodwill. :)

100%

I bought many different flight bags and based on @Larry in TN recommendation, I settled on Contrail.
They are customizable and rugged as hell.

Trolly Pocket that can be zipped to make an additional pocket or used to slide onto your luggage handle.

Personal 10 inch iPad in the slim pocket
Documents and landing instructions in the front pocket. Room for pens and more if needed.

Handles located where God intended.

The top zipper flap is really convenient for access in flight and you order the individual pockets based on your needs and they Velcro in so you essentially build your own flight bag,

Over the course of more than 30 years, I’ve tried a lot of aviation-dedicated bags of various types and makes, from simple to Brightline modular combos. Just about four years ago I bought this backpack. The idea of an external usb plug attracted the geek in me and the yellow color (there are others) the sense of having something different. It’s still the best flight bag I’ve had.

I have a Contrail bag for my work bag, and a Flight Outfitters Lift 2.0 bag for my fun flying stuff.

Always have to remember to transfer my certs when I change bags. Hopefully I don't forget them.

I have also tried many different bags over the last 25 years, and now I use this simple backpack I got from Amazon for $20. It's plenty big enough to carry everything I need. I wish I had bought a different color though, like yours, to make it more interesting.

If you have an off-airport landing, that yellow color might make it easier for SAR to find you. :)

I have a cheap backpack that does the job, also have a flight bag that I used for my IFR flying. Had a compartment for a lap top.
