Same here, except there is something of a last year/last quarter realization that many of your friends have moved on and things aren't the same. I had the same feeling my senior year of high school and am starting to get that vibe at work.
 
New week, same astonishingly bad offense, same stellar defensive unit and special teams grinding it out for a win over LSU. We never even scored from inside the red zone. Oh well, no one said the wins had to be pretty. OU finishes the regular season at 10-2 and waits for the first playoff game.

I knew it was time to go when my current pursuit held more past than future.
 
I'm mildly annoyed that #12 Vanderbilt played #19 Tennessee at their house and won big, and #13 Miami played #22 Pitt and won big, then Vanderbilt got moved down a position an the AP poll and Miami went up one. It's not likely to make a difference, I don't think either team will be included in the playoff.

I don't think being in the bottom four in the playoff bracket is all that enviable position. You get to play an away game against a higher ranked team, and if you lose, that's your season.
 
This is the sort of thing that irks me about college football championships. Below are the ACC standings. Duke will be playing Virginia for the ACC championship.

You will notice that all 5 teams below Virginia have the identical 6-2 record in the ACC, but Duke has the worst overall record (7-5). Furthermore, those whose memories can stretch back to Oct 18 will recall that GT defeated Duke, 27-18.

I'm fine with Miami being ahead of GT, but why in the name of John Heisman is Duke #2?! How, with an identical conference record and an inferior overall record, can Duke be ranked ahead of the GT team that beat them?!

What utter BS.

Supposedly, the first criteria is a head-to-head matchup. Apparently that's a bunch of bull and they don't adhere to it. The ACC relied upon "strength of schedule" which seems to rest upon opinion.

IIRC, the ACC is down to the fifth tie-breaker this year. They are past in-conference record, head to head, wins/losses against common opponents, blah, blah, blah and are down to a tiebreaker nobody expected.

I'm disappointed too, but the only ones they can blame are themselves for the way they played the last three conference games. WTF happened to them?
The game against Georgia wasn't too embarrassing, but they still should have played better.

Next year they won't have King. I hope they have enough money to buy some good players. That's what this sport has come down to.
 
Just got an alumni email from GT. Coach Key's contract has been extended. Highlights:

The Georgia Tech Athletic Association Board of Trustees approved a new five-year contract for football head coach Brent Key on Wednesday. The new contract adds a year beyond Key’s previous agreement, extending him through 2030.​

Key has led his alma mater to a 27-19 record in three-plus seasons at the helm, which includes eight games as interim head coach in 2022 before being named Georgia Tech’s permanent head coach prior to the 2023 season. The 5th tie breaker was average win percentage of conference opponents. The coaches voted on these criteria before the season, so there's not a lot of room for complaint.

Regardless, not many people had Duke as ACC champion on their bingo card. And I'll bet NOBODY had James Madison in the playoffs.

One thing we can be sure of, however: there will always be a 13th team, and that team will always feel screwed. Notre Dame is taking it a bit worse than most.
 
Hey Georgia tech alums, are any of you going to the Toaster Pastry bowl? I just bought tickets for the Reliaquest bowl for myself, my wife, and my football loving eldest daughter. Our youngest has volunteered to stay home with our dogs.
 
OU/BAMA for a night game in Norman. Should be a slug fest . . . again. Hopefully we get our all-star defensive end (R Mason Thomas) back from injury and he can get after Bama's QB. It'd be a really great time for our Offense to figure out how to score points, but I won't get my hopes up.
 
First game of the playoffs tonight. After watching the SEC championship game, it's my opinion that there was no need to include Alabama in the playoffs, but here they are.

I'm hoping that the Sooners get things done tonight and tag Bama with their fourth loss of the season.
 
This is probably the only time you’ll hear me say Boomer Sooner.
 
Started out looking like a blowout, but it was not to be.

Alabama vs Indiana will be a good one.

A couple of meh games tomorrow. Miami vs Texas A&M should be good.
