    Chevy Volt

If you are thinking of leasing, then Volt could be an attractive deal. You can get one for about $300 per month with $0 drive off. Some folks are not comfortable with lease, and Volt is not for them. Volt has both gas engine and electric motor, but contrary to popular misinformation gas...

MotionX GPS lite lets you enter lat/long, supports waypoints, has decent maps, and best of all it's free.

Temporary hangar in Bay Area (CA)?

I would say KHWD, KCCR, or KLVK would be the best choice. All of those airports are also in good proximity to a BART station if you choose to take subway from Berkeley. I fly out of KHWD and KLVK and I love both airports. KHWD would be the closest to Berkeley. But KCCR or KLVK will have a...

    I Need Help With Numbers

Scale of 10 level is too many for typical male to discern as evidenced by this color chart.

    Good G1000 training materials?

I bought Max Trescott's G1000 cockpit handbook. It's an ok guide, but I didn't think it added anything not already in 184 page G1000 diamond cockpit reference guide PDF that is available on the web for free. You can probably find G1000 guide for the specific aircraft you fly also. If not just...

    Got a new camera

Just so I understand the setup, you attach suction cup on the wing, bolt the ball mount with diamond base to the suction cup, use double socket arm so you can swivel the camera, and at the other end of the double socket arm you use another ball with thread that screws to the bottom of the camera?

    Got a new camera

Cool video! I've been thinking about getting Contour Roam as well. Maybe I should pull the trigger. Oh and excellent landing.

    G1000 failure

Thanks. I've had only a few hours on this airplane, but I'm getting there!

    G1000 failure

Ugh.. you mean it's normal to show the NAV and COMM errors until after avionics switch is turned ON? Maybe I didn't pay as much attention to the annunciation last couple of times I flew G1000, and I thought this was new.. I'll pay more attention to the power up sequence next time I'm in this...

    G1000 failure

DA40 has an emergency backup battery but there is no arming, and the switch itself is protected with safety wire. Anyways, is the question about the standby battery switch is to determine whether G1000 was properly power cycled?

    I hate Windows 8

Looks like World Clock app takes the city of interest only and hides the timezone offset. You can just use London or any other cities that are on GMT.

    G1000 failure

I cycled the Master (BAT) and Master (ALT) switches that are grouped together. I'm not sure what standby battery switch is. I'm still trying to get used to this plane.. There are Essential Bus switch and backup battery switch used for alternator failure emergency, and they were left on OFF...
