Man Parks Plane in Driveway

People don't tend to move to Alaska to join an HOA. I lived in one of those "**** Shacks" for 6 or so months.

So, you had the rusting hulks of a dozen or so cars, a few boats, a lawn tractor or two and misc other equipment and materials sitting around in your front yard? And when you took out the trash, you simply opened the door of one of those cars and tossed it inside? I'll bet not. That's my definition of **** Shack and I think you guys keep missing that point.

It doesn't have anything to do with being poor or living in a less than stellarly new and expensive cabin/house/trailer/etc. I lived in a few trailers and old farm houses when I was younger, especially during my college years, but even as a teenager they were kept relatively organized and neat both inside and out. Momma wasn't white trash and she didn't raise white trash. And, besides, even as a young adult, if my place would've been trashed when she and dad came to visit, she would've kicked my ass!

That's just the way she was. :wink2:

If you haven't noticed, that seems to be his mission in life. Spew a bunch of hateful crap and wait for the response.

Views not way left of center = hateful crap

Got it, thanks!

The VAST majority of HOA weenies, I've known who live for times they can abuse a neighbor and feel important, do so because their rarely get to feel powerful, or important any other time, especially in their marriages, and it's like a narcotic to them.

Many times they end up being jealous, petty, and spiteful individuals who take out the disappointments they experience in life and their shortcomings by abusing their neighbors and getting to pretend to be important doing it.

Rarely have I ever met one that I would have gone out of my way to befriend, because our personalities automatically clash. They want to meddle in other people's business to have something to do, and I want them to leave everybody alone.

His diatribe made you feel good didn't it?

What is wonderful (and many of you seem to be missing the point), is that we all have a choice of where we live. You can choose to live in an area with an HOA, or not. It's up to you. No reason to spew this hatred. You don't like it? Just move somewhere where you don't need to deal with it. You will be happy and believe me so will we :D

I'll take an area where the farm bureau suggests the best crop to plant this season, thanks.

Okay...my favorite HOA story. Actually in this case it was deed restrictions but, same difference. All names have been changed or omitted to protect the guilty (me).

So, I take a new job in a new town and moved off of our first 160 acre "ranch" to another area. We wanted to buy another "ranch" as that's our preference but we found something more modest until we got to know the area and found a place with karma to buy.

So we buy a 2500sf house in a development with all 3 to 5 acre lots and some nice (albeit modest) restrictions. No subdividing of lots, no vinyl siding, min. 50% brick or stone, minimum of 2,000 sf., min 60' side set backs and 75' front & back, etc.

So the 4 acre lot behind me hadn't been sold yet.

After we were there about a year, the lot behind us sold. I came home one day after being on the road for a week and saw that it was cleared and had what appeared to be not one but three building pads on it.

Saturday comes and a couple of guys are out there doing some layout.

So I go over and introduce myself and make small talk. Small talk comes around to me quizzing them on what they're doing.

Turns out, he's a spec builder (a real idiot...back before the 08 crash when every small town peon thought they could be a homebuilder). He's planning on building three 1750sf vinyl sided beauties on this lot and selling them off. And the nearest one to me is only 10' off of his side property line...my back line.

I laughed.

Told him he wasn't going to do that, told him why and that if he does anything else on this lot I'll see him in court. He whined. I laughed.

2 months later my neighbor on the other side bought the lot for about 60% of what the idiot had paid for it and he and I built a nice little three hole par three on it using the building pads as greens.

There was nothing in the deed restrictions that prohibited a private gold course.

:goofy:

He should have built a 10,000sf multi family unit, and rented it out to the HUD folks for low cost housing.

Seriously, does FC EVER post anything positive, or uplifting??? He is the biggest downer on this board for sure. He doesn't post "views", he posts angry attacks. There is a difference. He's a broken record of bitter old white man diatribe. No original thought, except maybe sometimes in the grade school debate tactics.

If you enjoy that kind of thing, I have no problem with that. I don't believe in censorship and I do not have FC, or anyone on my ignore list. Read is spew and cheer him on, I don't care, but don't pretened it's not a bunch of bitter vitriol.

Funny thing is, when he posts outside the SZ and talks about airplanes he's quite civilized and a useful participant.

He's like a caricature on a comedy sketch show. Once you get to that level of crazy, there's no way you can take it seriously. It's just a big joke; and plays straight into the hands of those who want to discredit the right wing as being whacks!

Ahhhh.... The leftist whiners and their never ending bull****. Just add a dash of peggy, a pinch of jimmmmyyyy, and a squirt from jeffy, and you have a casserole of nonsense, wrapped in a tortilla.

So do your fingers just start spasming and this stuff just spews out with little to no thought behind it? Because it is so random.

Ageism, the race card, and a personal attack?

A trifecta as he falls off his moral high horse...

That's gotta hurt falling that far.

Slow golf clap for that one. LOL.

Ageism, the race card, and a personal attack?

Nope. Just a statement of clearly obvious fact. Old? He is old. White? He is white. Bitter? Well... if you can't see that from his posts... I don't know what else to say. No attack. He can say and type whatever, I don't care.

So your ageist, racist slur against a large demographic of readers here, was not really a slur, it was just a necessary descriptive set of adjectives, so we wouldn't mistake FC for another FC here? Ah, I see.

Cool story. Not buying it. Do you always type "young black" in front of the board names of our members who are, just as a "description", too? No.

(Unless there's a non-white, younger FC here that you were concerned we might mistake for the usual one... in which case, disregard. LOL.)

I think you just mindlessly chose the populist slur commonly used against folks with FC's opinions, and don't really notice how disgusting it is in adult conversation. (Not saying FC participates in adult conversation, but be aware there are other old white readers here.)

I'm not buying that it wasn't a personal attack, either. Not when there were multiple people jumping on that bandwagon simultaneously, and jumped on it so hard that the leaf springs on the wagon are bent. Wasn't just you. (Again, nott saying FC doesn't deserve it or that he can't handle it.)

But don't lie to yourself and think that phrase is innocuous. The "old white guy" phrase is as morally indefensible as "young black thug" is.

Don't worry. I'm not "offended" like all the PC weenies. I'm just telling it like it is, when people start using phrases like that as populist speech.

Had someone else type that into what was otherwise a reasonable adult argument this week and called him on it, too.

Your words weren't intended as "descriptive" of FC. Nor did anyone here need them to identify him. And you knew it. Totally unnecessary. Don't blow smoke up my ass.

White guys didn't choose their skin color any more than black, brown, yellow, purple, and magenta guys did, and everyone gets old.

any builder that buys a lot in a neighborhood with an HOA without reading the covenants is an idiot. My friend noticed that a builder had a relatively small pad for a 2 story house. Asked him the size and it was indeed too small. Builder whined but busted it up and poured a new one. I guess he went with a different house plan. I remember asking myself why he didn't check first.

Not trying to be a jerk here I just genuinely don't understand what the problem is.

The only problem i see is that he likely drove an unregistered vehicle on city/town roads. Yes i know it is FAA registered but i am not sure the DMV accepts that.

....

Cause if I lived in town and my neighbor showed up with a new RV and parked it in his driveway I might come out and say "Hey, man cool RV."....and I don't own or really like RVs that much. I just don't see what about it is causing grief or bother to anyone. Not trying to be a jerk here I just genuinely don't understand what the problem is.

That's because you're not a control freak who wants to make sure that no one around you ever does anything that you don't happen to approve of.

Though i agree with you, I also see it as the jealous, petty types, who don't have one and hate you for having it. Their only recourse, in their itty-bitty minds, is to make you miserable for making them jealous.

Actually, he was stating what FC does, not who FC is. And thus that's not a personal attack.

I can say "Nate, what you said was really stupid." That's not a personal attack.

But, if I say "Nate, you're really stupid," it is.

And I notice you didn't feel motivated to comment on this beauty of a personal attack:

Ahhhh.... The leftist whiners and their never ending bull****. Just add a dash of peggy, a pinch of jimmmmyyyy, and a squirt from jeffy, and you have a casserole of nonsense, wrapped in a tortilla.

In this case, the attack was clearly initiated as personal; "the leftist whiners." That's a description of who they are and not what they said/did.

See the difference there Nate? One takes intellect and reasoning to articulate. The other not so much.

He didn't drive it. He pulled the wings and trailered it. No vehicle code broken. I read that in one of the articles.

"he's a ...." Seems like the start of a fairly cut and dry personal attack to me.

It shouldn't be anyone else's business what he choses to park in his own driveway unless it's posing some sort of hazard/nuisance to others and I don't see how it could be.

effin' A.

Ever taken any "effective management" classes? Always address the deficiencies of a subordinate's actions...not the deficiencies of the subordinate him/herself. One is insulting the other not. Same difference.

How much you want to bet the pansy that called 911 because a man was walking along carrying a confederate flag, is on an HOA somewhere?

Well, I saw at least six dozen this past weekend and received 2 as birthday gifts.....no law enforcement was involved.

"You know, it's gotten to the point that the Confederate flag isn't just a symbol of the Confederacy or the South - it's also become a symbol of free speech. I'm considering flying a Confederate flag just because liberals keep telling me not to."

That's what I'm going to do with my birthday presents.

You aren't in a management position here. You can try but you are rejected.

Reading down through the article, I noticed the complaining (whiner) caller claimed that the man was clearly walking like he was... Wait for it.... Took pride in what he was doing.

Imagine the horror for some metrosexual, pansy that was told to feel offended and found out that there are people who don't conform to whatever they are ordered to thnk?

One of the points the author made is that pansy boy was the one breaking the law by texting while driving.

Just wondering how this thread became an HOA bashing thread. All kinds of right wing nut jobs came out (like cockroaches when the lights go off) and start whining about this.

Here is a suggestion... Just don't move into a neighborhood with an HOA! Nobody is forcing it on you. Find something else to whine about please this one is totally in your control to avoid. Or are you going to try to impose your views on us like you do your religion and your view of morality?

You REALLY need some bread and cheese to go with your whine.
