What the hell? 70s music

Both great songs! Neither is quite my style, but great nonetheless.

Here's a really great tune from "the day." Too bad there's no video. Talk about "bringing it." Tommy does so for over 9 minutes! Lots of Deep Purple influence in this one:

Okay, where'd I leave the bong? :)

I remember that one, vaguely.

Here's another one from that era:

And this one got dusted off thanks to Breaking Bad:

Niw I'm going to have to start streaming K-SHE (Henning will know what I'm talking about). It's a station in St Louis.

KSHE isn't a pimple on the butt of its former self. They've become a burnout classic rock station lacking in variety. They're really no better than any other classic rock station that's stuck on top 40 stuff from the 70's. It's too bad, they were a great station back in the 60s and 70s.

A far better option is http://www.stlouisclassicrock.com. It is online streaming only (no on-air station) and I believe it is run by KSHE. The website banner shows how many songs they've played without a repeat. Right now they're over 4,000. Now THAT'S a radio station! I listen to it a lot. Oh, and it's completely commercial free.

I'll check it out. I used to listen to KSHE back in the day, I hoped it was still the way I remembered.

One more from the 70s:

I was born in 1991. What are these drugs that everyone's talking about :D

(actually my birthday is later this month...) The ripe old age of 24.

I thought it was side one of Led Zeppelin IV? At least that's what Mike Damone said...

No... Framptom Comes Alive has the same effect as tequila except they don't puke on your dick. Also if you couldn't get laid at a Journey concert, there was something seriously wrong with you.

Roger that! Spoken like mother man who has BTDT.

And for you young guys, that meant 8-track or reel to reel for the rich kids.

I may still have Back in Black on 8 track at a friend's.

How about Nazareth:

Right now 6PC is either saying "Wow, this is some cool ****!" or "Oh. my. God. I'm never getting in the air with these old guys ever again."

Oh man. I hadn't heard that one in a loooong time. That's awesome.

Most of this stuff is my dad's generation, of course, but he was a huge music fan and always had top notch stereo gear and at one point a vinyl collection that took up three walls of his living room. As time when on, he dumped the vinyl for CDs (he never got all the way to hard drive / digital type stuff) but I never found Nazareth in the CD collection after he passed which is surprising.

We would CRANK this stuff as we headed for the ski area every weekend in the 80s in his Ford cargo van converted to shaggin wagon. Haha. I think a couple of decades later I can still remember the contact high from gluing all the carpet in after hanging panels and installing a massive Pioneer sound system, CB, and other stuff in an overhead box in the front.

Perfect ski vehicle, pop open the back doors where the rear speakers were mounted and instant ski area parking lot party! Skis, just toss them off to the side and stretch out on the "tailgate" and grab some hard salami and cheese for sandwiches from the cooler.

Thing wasn't even 4WD, but it got us up over the pass to the snow hundreds of times.

But what I remember the most is that sound system cranking everything, this stuff included.

That and mix tapes of every possible beat rate of music so you could find something that would work to match the moguls that day in your Walkman. Hahaha. The PITA was knowing which song would work and fast forwarding to it while on the ski lift. LOL.

"If it's too loud, you're too old!"

Ok....just stop it. I ended up into a 2.5 hr jam session last night, listening to Carlos Santana.

All this talk about acid, I figured I'd end my weekend with some....

Mama's Pride was a good regional band out of St Louis at the time, and so were the Alman Brothers.

but.....this is what's playing tonight (my kids think I'm going nuts)

Your 1 stop shop for scat, jazz flute, yoddling, some sort of gibberish, a whistling solo and Mr. furley's wordrobe.
I probably watched this 10 times today. So weird

I've watched that piece multiple times in the past. A tour de force performance by the Mad Dutchman, Thijs van Leer.
