Is there a document on the site that lists what the qualifiers under one's username mean? For example, "En-route" or "Touchdown! Greaser!" I know they're somehow attached to number of posts but it appears there's other conditions but I can't find what they mean.

For the real terms, start here...

(A lot of duplication, but sometimes there will be a definition in one that is not in the others.)

For the slang, try these...

Thanks, @Jim K that's what I was asking. Is that list viewable for the membership or is that just something available to the mods?

It's in the back end of the forum software. I don't think it's accessible to members....until now

Heck, I'll take the opportunity to ask another question that I've always wondered: what's the point of the "Display name" when the name actually displayed primarily is the username? I understand not wanting a way for people to hide their identity, but surely the Display Name should be, er, displayed most prominently, and the username as the subtext. What am I missing?

It's a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

Not every display name is the user name. Look at JOhnH posts

I think it used to be. A while back I recall seeing that in the help pages. There was a page on trophies (which still exists) and one on post count vs status.

I'm aware. That's actually my point. The site has the option for a "display name", which suggests it would be the one primarily displayed, as well as a "username" which suggests it's used to log in. In reality, the username is "displayed" and the display name is a foot-note. I just found it interesting. But, as a mystery wrapped in an enigma, surrounded by a chalupa, I guess I'll just have to let it go. :D

Remember that this is generic forum software. It looks and acts a little unique based on settings and a few add-ons. I think some forums will have members display their real name there. A few here choose to do that as well. Here, it's user editable, so it can be set to something silly; for example something @kaiser said under his breath, across the room, when we didn't think he was listening, that about made me fall out of the chair laughing.

I haven't looked, but I bet we could turn it off. OTOH it's kind of fun, so why not leave it as an option? Kind of like the user status...it's completely pointless, but it adds to the flavor of the place.

Yeah, what does "Sitting under a palm tree with Fred Noonan" mean? It's not on the list.

Fred Noonan was Amelia Earhart's navigator. I'd venture a guess and say it means sitting with him on the island where they disappeared??

And there's no way to avoid this redundancy?

I'll look into that one. The visual appearance of this site is controlled through a bunch of "templates" which are essentially HTML wrapped with a odd substitution language unique to the forum software (though it is inspired by several predecessor PHP-based bulletin boards). I suspect something got inadvertently duplicated at some point.

Yep, I don't know where the horizontal rule was coming from (it must be inserted automatically when you put a custom rending in, but I just deleted the custom rendering.

I know. It was a joke . . . like "she's out there lost on a tropical island". ;)

It would be a funny tag tho'.

I asked AI to come up with different labels:

0 Lost in the FBO lobby
30 Found the checklist (maybe)
100 Still arguing with Ground
500 Briefed the passenger... it's my dog
1000 Forgot to remove chocks
1500 Cruising at 120kts... downhill
2500 "Are we there yet?"
5000 IFR: "I Follow Roads"
10000 Perfect landing... on the taxiway
25000 Chief Coffee Fetcher (CFI)
50000 Calls ATC "bro" unironically
100000 Owns an airport… on Microsoft Flight Sim

not bad at all, but I personally would have thrown in a "meow" as well as the highest post count being "I AM AL MOONEY". otherwise, not bad, AI. not bad!

Every time I read that name, my first thought is always, without fail, Danny Noonan.

Years ago, I was at Sun n Fun and ran into a friend Judy Rice. Judy was getting ready to start an around the world trip. With her was her companion on the trip. She says to me, "This is Fred." I immediately asked, "Noonan?" Nobody thought that was funny besides me apparently.

For what it’s worth, I remember the display name being much more prominent before we switched to XenForo, and the real username was almost a footnote. I noticed that when we switched, but got over it pretty quickly.

Not to me. I used my blocker to get rid of some of the wasted space in the title block (let me call it).

I don't understand any of this really, but there is a GUI with a point and shoot tool.
