What did you do today?

Flew to breakfast. Got yelled at over the radio by a CFI in a wannabe airline uniform. I had made two calls that we were entering on crosswind following an Archer that was turning from upwind to crosswind. I didn’t do a midfield crosswind because we would’ve wound up cutting him off on downwind.

Another Archer is just past rotation, climbing through 300, and asks who is that flying across the departure path. We were at 1000 AGL. He adds that we’re too close. With his climb, we were wings level on downwind as he reached pattern altitude.

Ahhh - just another day in the sky with a 300 hour wonder.

So much for people only being dicks when they hide behind a computer screen. ;)

What y'all think about my DIY tattoo.??

My worst landings are with an audience.
When I sold my 180 the A/P doing the prebuy was going to fly it back with another ap/cfi if he bought it. Taxiing to the ramp I found out he's also a cfii. No pressure.

I obsessively worried about the plane since I haven't seen it in over a month, since I moved.
I keep imagining I'm going to open the hangar door tomorrow to find it sitting on blocks, or a wing fell off, or a family of possums made the interior their home.
Totally irrational -- I know -- but... I guess this is what separation anxiety feels like

IDK if I even know how to fly anymore!

Assembled GF’s TV Stand. This thing weighs a ton so it better be put together in the place she really really wants it or it may become a lifetime job of assembling and disassembling.

And no, not the reason I will miss RR this year.

If you need someone to exercise the gaskets and make sure the hoodlums havent swiped the rims I'd be happy to oblige. I'll be plane less for a bit as it's going in for annual Monday

The exhaust hood I want is back-ordered about 2 months. On to transplanting rosemary and tomato starts.

Shot 150 clays at the southern classics side by side championships. Oh, and took phone calls from the A&P figuring out why I lost an alternator on the way down.

Buy a plane they said. It will be fun they said. I guess they never said cheap. New FCM inbound from Cirrus tomorrow after they fixed a broken ground wire and that didn’t solve it.

That being said, the trip down from NH was great. TKS worked perfectly in rime ice it took 6 hours to TTA that included time on the ground in CGE getting a MD crabcake for lunch.

Excellent! Now go win!!

Not likely, haven't flown but 3 times since last fall. While the basic maneuvers are easy, the finer points are perishable. But turnout is very small, so a participation trophy should be achievable.

Details. What gun were you shooting? How'd you do? Get pics of any interesting SxSs?
12 gauge an LC Smith, 20, 28, 16 gauge Parker’s. Shot pretty well in the mid 40s out of 50 but that’s not enough to win but 3 more days of shooting. The variety of guns for sale in the vendors tents are mind boggling. For an aviation bent how about Billy Mitchell’s Parker. … POR and I didn’t have the guts to ask.

I love Elsies; my regular snipe/quail gun is a 12ga Featherweight. Don’t have a Parker yet, but I do want one. Also like the Ithacas.

Much as I like the guns with elaborate engraving and high grade stocks, I have a soft spot for the “blue collar” doubles, the plain versions that rode in pickup trucks and lived behind farmhouse doors. My favorite dove gun is a “Worthington Special,” a store gun made by Stevens for the old Worthington department stores. It’s a depression era gun, but I can’t determine the exact year. It fits me well and has great balance.

I used to shoot trap with them once or twice a week, but I’ve been away from it for a long time.

Drove all over Chicagoland looking at 3 jobs and dropping my scissor lift off to start dismantling the cranes at another location. Hook is massive and they've barely been used. Remote will operate both cranes in tandem. Or each individually. Little overkill for me, but the price is right. Will be around 95,000 lbs of steel to take down.

Had to measure the length for new bar joists at one job that had a roof collapse from clogged roof drains. Then to quote another building with 16 columns that need some tlc.

Overall was 4 hours in the truck. Absolutely buried with work all of a sudden.

Drove to Georgia with SWMBO to visit our granddaughter and the young couple who are taking care of her.

Sounds like a perfect excuse to fly

It would have been, and likely will be in the future. I've flown here in the past, but the closest airport is in Folkston, about a 45 minute drive from their place, and Folkston has no rental cars, which complicates things a bit. Plus there's a problem right now with wildfires in the area (severe drought) causing lots of smoke, so flying conditions over the weekend are a little uncertain for a VFR pilot.

yet another dental implant today.

so far, so good wrt to post-procedure discomfort

Still hasn't rained? I saw 2 wildfires pop up just before the Daytona 500. Smoke filled the stands during pace laps.

That 45 minute drive is definitely a buzzkill.

Yeah, almost no rain for months. And once the rains start, lightning will be starting fires all over the state. This place is a tinderbox.

They need to hire my daughter to go camping there. Heavy rains every time she’s ever camped, I think.

joined the electric mower club. Old one runs great, but needed a drive belt that I can’t find in town, so why not spend $600 instead of $20?

Then went across the street to offer the old mower to the neighbor as a donor engine for building a go kart with his boys. The response? “Well, it’s not like I wasn’t googling that just last night.” Hopefully he and I won’t get in trouble with his wife.

We have an extra car, if you need it

Very kind of you! I might take you up on it next trip.

I went out to the local RC field this morning with @2-Bit Speed and @SkyChaser and watched him fly his RC plane for the first time. Nice group of folks, very welcoming and friendly. Juliette was taking it all in. I think she’s going to like things that fly.

Met up with the previous occupant of my new hangar to help him remove the last of his stuff, now it's mine, mine, all mine! :) I've only been waiting for 12 years for a hangar of my own.

Then went home and finished building a bending fixture for the shock attach lugs for the new landing gear I'm building for the Parrakeet, and cleaned the Dykem off the parts I cut out the other day.
