What did you do today?

How much you wanna bet he had an applicant show up for a checkride with fluid all over the glareshield?

or, possibly, the examiner had shown up for one of his checkrides with the fluid all over the glareshield.

Last night however we had quite the light show outside. A town 30 miles northwest of ORD reported winds of 75mph. Tornado sirens went off where I'm at 20 miles north. Lots of red on the radar
I was in DC a couple nights ago and got a text asking if I was home and was the tornado going to hit us. :o

I pulled up my last remaining Ring camera and found the house was still there but the tornado was close enough I could hear it! Passed about 2 miles south.

Yeah luckily for me, more of that aforementioned "red" ended up north of the cheddar curtain.

Took my Beech buggy up for a couple of hours. Nice flight, surprisingly little traffic.

LOTS of SNF attendees parked at Winter Haven, and we have a temporary tower for the week. We really need a permanent tower. The controller was a big help.

For the last eight weeks, our master bath was being remodeled. We have two dogs, the bigger one is quite shy, and the smaller one, despite being rather angelic looking

is quite protective of her house and would bark at the contractors and nip at them, so I spent most of the last eight workweeks in the basement with the dogs. The bathroom was finished yesterday, and I was looking forward to being able to plan my day and get some things done. I stepped outside this morning to water some new plantings, and my wife comes out and hands me her phone. It's our younger daughter, a mover's truck came into her lane and she hit the curb while avoiding the truck, which caused a partial deflation. She tried to drive it back home but it got worse and she stopped in one of our local parks. I gathered up some tools and a tire inflater, and switched cars with her. Fortunately, her car does have a temporary spare (my Cayman and wife's Lexus do not), and put it on and took it home.

Maybe Monday will be uneventful.

Today I cringed when I looked at my credit card. New plastics and a tug...ouch. Guess the new upholstery is waiting.

Watching the weather people get excited over a tornado currently moving toward 10c

Listened to the third day straight day of a constant siren tone both in Dayton and Troy Ohio (40 miles North). First two days, winds 10-15 gusts 25-30, ceilings variable 3000 to 5000, third day, CAVU, winds less than 10. Finally stopped afternoon of third day. No rain, no thunderstorms, nada all the total time period.

Somebody seems to have gotten Power Mad with the Doom Button.

Did a breakfast flight this morning, then washed the plane.

Today I

drove from my house in the Chicago suburbs to Madison
to take a cab to another airport east of Madison
to fly to PDK
to take a cab to ATL <—- currently here
to fly to O’Hare, then Madison (unless it’s a bus American…..)
to get back to my car and drive home to Chicago.

TIL I learned about 4 and 20.

what a sheltered life I lead.

Do you have to come back to PDK to get the airplane at some point?

Washed the motorcycle and sharpened the mower blades. Yesterday, changed the oil in the bike and the car. The plane’ll be due for oil pretty soon here.

Worked a shift at the USAF Museum. Chatted a bit with a couple of visiting Brazilian Fighter Pilots who flew F-5’s.

Would have flown you to... Watertown? direct and skipped some of that craziness.

Maybe. Someone will, hopefully me. I’ll definitely coordinate if it’s me.

I’m going to take you up on that offer next time.

It’s definitely strange sitting 30 minutes from my house but having to board another flight to go get my car (then drive back).

Won the lottery!

Ok, not the actual lottery. Got the PO to remove 2 nearly brand new 10 ton over head cranes. 200 feet of runway, 48' span. Span beam alone weighs 178 pounds per foot. Former tenant left them and the building owner wants them removed asap

Now I gotta build a new building to use the things....after I get them down.

Got curious what the hoists weigh...2200 pounds each. The span beams are each 8500lbs. Runway beam is 36" tall.

Back to FL and got in my first flying in 2 months. Some acro to get ready for Sebring, and some landing practice under the watchful eye of this fellow:

Figured out how to hit the API of our new shipping software to create a freight cost analyzer. UPS has been screwing us and I needed an easier way to see the data rather than 100 clicks inside the website.

He doesn’t look impressed. ;)
I think he looks more ticked off than anything…” one of those hot shot fly boys is showing off again” now his herd of cows is going to be giving him a hard time of “why can’t you be more like that…” lol

New range was delivered, and installed, and the old one hauled off. Played with the thing and charted its oven temp stability at six temps. I lowered the oven adjustment by 15F and now all the temps are within 2 degrees 15 minutes after the oven reports its set temp has been attained. Made dinner on it, now trying to decide what to bake first.

Found a 30"x24" stainless backstop I think will simply screw to the back of the range. Today I'll order the exhaust hood and the roof vent. The only question is whether a roof joist (flat roof) is in the way of a straight shot up through the roof. I'll reroute the hood wiring and start some cabinet mods this week.

BTW this range has no knobs. All the controls are touch.
