What did you do today?

Very kind of you! I might take you up on it next trip.

I went out to the local RC field this morning with @2-Bit Speed and @SkyChaser and watched him fly his RC plane for the first time. Nice group of folks, very welcoming and friendly. Juliette was taking it all in. I think she’s going to like things that fly.

Surprisingly, the plane is still usable.

Got F’ed by FedEx. Part from Cirrus was “overnighted” for $155 and is still in Raleigh. So overnight now means 3 days. Guess we’ll enjoy NC a bit longer since I’m not night current so we’ll see if we get off early enough Monday to make it home to NH.

At least I’ll get my $155 shipping back for their buffoonery.

UPS: we have your package and it will be delivered to your front door tomorrow at 10:37 by Kevin.

FedEx: we have your package and it will be delivered.

Post Office: what package?

Amazon: you were thinking about ordering suppositories and your wife agreed. They have been delivered. Check your bathroom. Lower left drawer. Picture posted to Instagram.

DHL: We have your package. We're not going to give it to you. Instead, we're going to send it across the country, then give it to the post office. They might deliver it, they might not. You know we don't actually like doing any of this, right?

Dad dropped off his plane for annual. I drove his 2006 z06 with 23100 miles to pick him up. In a few months it will be stored in my garage when his 2027 is ready for pickup. So was getting a feel for it since I've been told possession is 9/10's... Right?

Talking to the A/P, a staggerwing taxi's by.... Who's is that?! Guy just bought it so hopefully get to see that beaut fly more.

Sunshine, dry, not enough wind to effect updrafts, light ... under 500. 34.2 L/D on a Wortmann FX-60-157. I launched nearly an hour before the trigger and had no difficulty finding those updrafts. Over five hours from release to landing, bouncing between 4,500 and 7,000 for most of that time.

Post Office: what package?

Experience from last week:

PO: Here's your package.
ME: This isn't my package.
PO: Aren't you Myrtle Tuppermeir?
ME: Nope.
PO: Isn't your address PO Box 1234?
ME: No, mine is PO Box 9876.
PO: So you don't want it?
ME: It's not mine.
PO: So you're saying this isn't yours?
ME: Right. You delivered it to me by mistake.
PO: I don't see how that could happen. Are you refusing delivery?
ME: Yes, I'm refusing delivery. Why don't you see if Myrtle wants it?
PO: Do you have her address?
ME: It's on the box.
PO: Oh, okay, if you say so.
ME: Thanks.
PO: Have a nice day.

Burned out a tail motor on a small electric heli... well, off to the store go I.

There is a video of the conversation online:

lol

I'd put you on a co-axial first. I've got a couple sub-micros that are perfect for first-timers. :cornut:
Dad's got an 80's era gas rc heli in the attic he flew exactly once because it apparently ended spectacularly. Why it's still in the attic is beyond me.

A few years ago...

I have a P.O. Box for my business and I received my yearly P.O. Box payment-due envelope. I write a check in my home office and put it in the envelope, with the intention of paying at the counter in the Post Office. Well, there was long line, and the envelope was a postage paid one, so I decided to drop the envelope off in the mail drop slot in the Post Office. So, yeah...

A couple of weeks later, I can't get into my P.O. Box with my key. They said they never received the payment and locked me out. The Post Office lost their own letter! And indeed, the check was never cashed. Sheesh! Needless to say, I now always pay at the counter. o_O

Similar experience years ago. You can't pay early, their system won't let you. If you pay late, they lock you out. Whomever came up with their business practices is somebody that was shoved into a locker many times as a kid, and he's taking it out on the world now.

Once they told me - with a straight face, that it was overnight, but not counting the day it was shipped or the day it was delivered.

It's amusing that you think that will happen...

years ago Jeppesen sent out a flyer (maybe in a chart revision packet, I don’t remember for sure) to the effect of, “I’m the president of Jeppesen, this is my email address, contact me about anything.” Within the previous month or two I’d had several negative experiences with Jeppesen, to include the lack of “next day” in their their next day chart service, so I sent an email that turned out to be rather lengthy. About a week later I got a phone call from a VP of something-or-other. Nice conversation that didn’t resolve much, although they did refund my FIRC (one of the other issues.)

Ah, the Red Queen must be running FedEx now.

"It was over-night. All of our planes fly at night. But we never specified which night."

Yesterday: flew home from rough river, went to church, planted 160 acres.
Today: watching it rain.

Loaded sixteen tons, and what did I get?…

Well, not quite. Reset pavers on the patio last week, and ended up with about 1200 pounds of mostly gravel that I had to haul off.

For the record, it’s a lot easier shoveling it out of the pickup than into it. ;)

Flew to breakfast with neighbors. Seven planes from our airpark, which is pretty typical for most mornings. It was a landmark - the first (and probably only) time that I was the first one of our group to arrive at Okeechobee. They’re all early risers; me, not so much.

It was especially sweet because I was grounded all weekend with a failed hangar door. Fixed it yesterday - bad capacitor on the hydraulic pump.
