What did you do today?

Watched the dog point and stalk a fly in the house. It's not hunting season and she's going stir crazy.

You might wanna look into getting a coup and some homing pigeons so you can take that dog out for some rides to different places and let it practice in the off season.

Got 10 acres she runs around on. Not a breed to have without property. I've got chukars I clip feathers and pack in remote launchers. She goes bonkers when she sees a gun come out.

today i'm learning how to file an insurance claim with someone elses insurance. I suspect tomorrow i'll be shopping for cars/trucks/citations.

Wanna borrow hyper pup? If there's been a bird in it, she'll point it out.
can she sniff out whether someone has been abusing the clutch, rust, or interpret a borescope to tell me whether the fan blades still have lots of life left in them?

Nope. Only let you know if a rodent or bird built a nest anywhere.

Took a pintle hitch just above the kneecap. Always fun.

Spent many hours shopping for a tractor. Tomorrow, I may actually leave the house and see one in person.

Why do a lot of dealers of the Korean tractors have no problem posting prices in their ads and website, yet the John deere and kubota dealers never, ever do? I want to know the price. I DON'T WANT TO FILL OUT AN ONLINE FORM AND RECIEVE A PHONE CALL FROM A SALESMAN TO GET THE PRICE! I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO ANY HUMAN OUTSIDE OF MY CIRCLE OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY, EVER.

Options, the green tractors are very customized to use (if you buy into the sales pitches) same “base” model but very different configurations available if your buying new.

I share this sentiment about every gd thing. It's just as bad as paying to put an ad up with $Call as the price. FOH.

"ehrmagerd configuration options are complex" was a good excuse in 1980 maybe. You can pretty much build an online bangalore configurator for about tree fiddy on fiverr nowadays. Or $10 with an LLM and some persistence.

To require customers to talk to a salesperson is to consider your customers idiots unable to figure out what they want for themselves if simply given the information.

This! I don't like people.

OK, that's not really true. I don't like salesmen. I don't like the fake "I'm your friend" thing they try to do. I don't like the "let me go ask my manager" bull. Tell me how much the ****ing thing costs, and I will take it or leave it. And no, I am NOT buying right here right now unless I already visited all the other dealers I plan to visit and your number is better.

I dunno about that. Granted, the largest thing I've gotten a quote for in green was a SCUT (1025R) but it's obvious that the quotes from the different dealers are all coming from the same system and that there could easily be an online configurator considering that's exactly what the dealers are doing.

I don't know about the options thing either, it's lazy. If it's in stock, sitting in a row with five or ten more just like it, they know the damn price. If I want to add implements to it, they could post the price of those, too! I could do math! Then they could surprise me a with a little discount for bundling the tractor and several implements when it's time to checkout. I just want an idea of the price, without having to talk to someone that I otherwise wouldn't speak to.

That's all I want is a SCUT with a loader and backhoe.

Since @Fiveslide slide mentioned Korean, I'm assuming he's talking about something under 50-60hp. Fwiw, Deere and everyone else DO have online configurators that will spit out a price. When i bought my 4052r during the "pandemic", it was pretty much msrp or gtfo (although i did get 0% money). Now i suspect you might find a dealer hungry enough to give you a couple grand off. Unless you're lucky, you'll really only have one dealer (chain) within driving distance anyway.

It's also that you have to block their phone number after they give you the price. If you don't, you get follow up calls to see if you're finally ready to buy.

Yeah, I just want one of the larger sub-compacts or smaller compact tractor. Mid 20's to low 30's hp ought to do just fine. I'm not farming. I'm planting the wife's flowers and veggies, and scraping a gravel boat ramp after these spring storms wash all the rock down towards the water. A belly mower on a sub-compact would be nice so I can get rid of my riding mower.

Changed oil in the plane, and took it for a short flight to get some fuel

I get WAY more use out of my 4052 than I thought I would. Super handy and so easy to run that my wife will go and get it out and use it. I think a 3 series would be even better, but I really bought it for a job that requires about 40 pto hp.

If it will do what you need, staying under 25hp reduces the amount of emissions crap that's required. That said, i haven't had any problems with the dpf on the 4052, but of course it's still under warranty...

Have you found "tractor time with Tim" on YouTube yet?

I could probably get by with 24.5 hp models. Current tractor doing the road grooming work is a neighbor's gas powered Ford 801. It's annoying, because of the stiff clutch and no power steering.

My experience with tractors is old 40-60hp stuff. Mostly older diesels with a couple gas powered ones when I was younger. I don't how the capabilities of the newer SCUTs compared to those old farm tractors that seemed like they could pull the gates of hell down, if they got traction. Newest one I've run was an early nineties Long.

I've not run one of the little guys, but the stuff I see Tim do with a 1025 blows my mind. With 4wd I think they pull pretty well. The hydrostatic drive eats some of the hp, but the convenience is unbelievable. We've put 300 hours on the 4052 in 2 years.

I'm patient enough to work ground and the road slowly, not overwhelming the smaller the smaller equipment. I'll definitely find that Tim feller.

My problem salesman is they don't know their product. When I bought the engine drive welder for the service truck. I had one question. The rep asked what we did and then tried to sell me a cheaper option. I asked if that had an amphenol connector for the spool gun. Nope. Would have to use the multimatic I have and then buy a different spoolgun to hook onto that. That's a pain to hook up 2 machines when I can run 1. So can we talk about the more expensive unit?

Where does the air come out of the compressor so I know how I need to rig the new truck?

After 10 minutes looking I walked away. Useless.

Plasma power source. What input power voltage does this require? "Well, let's look in the book". Buddy, as an informed consumer I ask specific questions because they aren't in whatever book you put out. If you can't answer a simple question, you're clearly not the guy I want to deal with.

A few years dad bought a Honda 6522 tractor from an estate. Tractor and 12 implements for 4k. Just hope nothing breaks since it hasn't been made since the mid 90's. Former owner was a Honda mechanic.

But man is it sweet. 3 cylinder Honda diesel. 12 speed transmission and 4wd. Came with rototiller, brush hog, belly mower, front end loader, backhoe attachment, auger, seeder, box scraper, harrow rake, and disc plow.

Finding a deal like that right now would give me the biggest erection of my life.

IMO, that is better than 6 inches below the knee...been there, done that...have the scar.
Took a trailer ramp to the shin. Have that scar too. Tossed the ramp up. Lock was down. Ramp came back down.

I can sell you expensive stuff. It will w
