What did you do today?

Hive inspection. Lost some over winter. After aggressively splitting, I've gone from 9 to 25 hives.

I just mowed my second flush of dandelions in my west bee pasture patch short. The flowers were pretty ripped up from the bees. The east one is in full bloom, the middle one should go into full bloom in a day or two. Knock on wood this year has been good and if the weather holds the dandelions will hold right up to when the Dutch clover starts blooming. That should roll in perfect for the sweet clover bloom. It has the makings for a great harvest.

Been a little on the chilly side for my liking. But not complaining.

We had nice weather on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this week. (Natch) Friday was the best, and Saturday the busiest. But all of the fractional hours flying the 8GCAC up to release altitude and back down to hook up another glider count.

Meanwhile Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and tomorrow I have been getting rained on more that its seemed to rain all year to date

Lemme know if you need someone to pull some crooked rows

in all honesty I was thinking what a cool fly-in it would be if a bunch of us flew out to @Jim K 's place for a coupl'a days and did some farming sht*. if it takes jim 2 days to plant a bunch of stuff on over 200 acres, maybe with a bunch of drunk hooligans who literally have no idea about farming it would take 5 days after jim has to redo everything we screwed up but it would be fun as sht. or so I think. I could be wrong on this one, but I think we got the makings of a new fly-in.

*I don't personally have overalls but I did stay in a holiday inn express so I think I'm pretty qualified for this stuff.

My wife would dig it, she's tractor curious.

I'll cheer you on from the nearest deluxe accomodation with strong air conditioning by day and stronger hot tub by night. :)

Mowed the lawn for the first time this year, finally, and flew a practice approach. Not at the same time. Nice sunny day!

My BIL's family house had a little sign that said something like: farming looks like fun... from the road.

Eman 1200- sounds like he may be finishing up on planting season, so maybe we should show up to help with harvest time. Then, we can all stand around and give ‘helpful’ advice while he pulls rivets on the RV14 build.

New Braunfels Texas was settled in part by the numerous immigrant German merchants, tradesmen, burghers, academics, bureaucrats, and minor nobles who left Europe after 1848 as part of a "back to the land" society. It turned out that actual farming, cattle raising, and vintning was rather difficult to learn from books and lectures.

Although the settlers only stayed a year or two before moving back to a city, they left behind a number of ghost towns north of the old Mooney factory. Bettina (named for their princess-sponsor), Baby Head (named for a massacre), Click, Elm Creek, and Leiningen.

Turned 5 lb of green Peruvian coffee beans...
coffee goes round and round.jpg

...into brown coffee beans.
and comes out here.jpg

In a day or two I'll turn a little of it into brown water and it will be spectacular.

Is it true that the Coriolis Effect makes the coffee swirl in the opposite direction when poured?

Ah, but note the elegance of a wing at the center of gravity and aerodynamic forces, port - starboard, fore - aft, up - down.
SGS 1-26.JPG Obviously flown by a perfectly balanced pilot. :)

Went to the gym and waited outside for fifteen minutes with dozens of other angry people waiting for someone to show up and open the door. Gave up and went to the other gym. Did a 'cold plunge' in the cold spa after workout, which really woke me up. Then I did it all over again in the shower, which apparently ran out of hot water.

Found 100+ ways to lose opening against an 1850 with e4

Removed 20 metal expansion anchors from a wall in the basement. Why would anyone put expansion anchors on fake wood paneling?

With those out of the way, I can put up a bit of plywood and then organizer drawers for all the little stuff that I lose...that'll I'll probably still lose anyway.
Over the weekend, I installed a short section of Gladiator Gearwall.

Pretty neat stuff. I like it.
