What did you do today?

I apparently have unresolved envy issues. :D
Sounds like you're well-prepared!

Nauga,
just now getting feeling back in his fingers

Don't be envious. 2 years on the hangar wait list. I've been in it now for 2 years, and the rent has doubled since the first time I inquired about renting. I spend more on this damned hangar than the mortgage payment (PITI) on my first house. But, its the only game in town.

Well I haven't flown a single in over a year so I'm neither passenger current nor night current in a single.
My dad showed up on the ramp where I flew out of once in an Archer.

“What are you doing in the Archer?”
“I accidentally let my chi expire, so I have to take a check ride with Don to reinstate it. <Grumble, grumble, grumble.>”
“Um, are you current single engine?”
Loooonnnnnnggg pause…
“Yes! I did two takeoffs and landings two months ago, so with the one coming up here I’m current.”

Aha! Well, congratulations to you, and condolences to your wallet. ;)

Does 3 in the pattern OEI count?
'fraid not. It's the airplane that matters, so unless you can jettison an engine and the plane is certified in both categories...

Doing a job backwards because the structural engineer doesn't know his North from South.

Finally shopped our insurance for the cars, scooter, and house. We’ve been with State Farm for decades, and I’ve felt pretty sure we’re getting overcharged, but we’ve stuck with this agent since it was just him and an assistant in a tiny office. But… a year ago when my wife had a stroke while driving and we needed to file a claim, I walked into their office to sort it out and was basically steered to the web site. Kinda left a bad taste. But, I despise getting insurance quotes, or I did the last time I tried it. This time it was much less hassle, and I found out we can get much better coverage on everything for about 2/3 what we’re paying now. Looks like we’ll be switching to USAA.

You can not find any cheaper or better insurance than USAA. Don't know all the requirements now but way back when, you had to be in the military, further back an officer. Family members are accepted now.

I go through that every 3-4 years. It seems insurance companies get a little too cozy with my business and just assume I'll auto renew.

Last time I was with allstate. Rates were double 2 of their competitors, despite being cheaper when I got them. Exact same coverage on the property and truck. Called them and told them to cancel everything. Insurance lady said "in the future it would have been nice to compete for your business."

That made me laugh. "Ma'am, you had my business and you lost it."

Been there, done that.. I’ve had to deal with two different contractor crews reading the prints facing opposite directions more than once unfortunately. I wish prints had compass roses on them as standard practice

After I got a burger I had some pie mmm mmm mmm

Wait, is that Chocolate chess pie?

This had the compass...it was just wrong.

Got a quote for replacing the kitchen cabinet and drawer doors and fronts. Then went out to get lottery tickets to pay for them.

Top it off with having a small cavity filled at the dentist. Much less painful.

Met an old work buddy for lunch. Spent a while reminiscing and solving all the world’s problems. Except the problems we created, of course.

This afternoon I flew the baby Beech over to Bartow to the paint shop for a little touch up work.

Uh, I dunno? Maybe?
I grew up in the south, actually not far from rough river. I’m 99% sure that is chocolate chess pie as I have ate 10 times my weight in it. It is my all time favorite and seems to not exist anywhere up north, in which I have found myself temporarily displaced. I rarely comment, but could not help myself as this is the best thing I have seen in a while.

Chapter 2: for grins, I got a quote from Progressive. Auto was silly low. Homeowners was 2.5 times what we’re paying now, for the same coverage. Jeez. USAA it is. Happy “enlisted when it was unpopular and missed all the wars” day to me.

Cloned the too small drive on the laptop to one that’s not so small, then swapped them out.

The laptop seems happier.

Looked at a spancrete building that shifted so much it sheared the angle welded to the embedments and tore welded. 3/8 angle tore vertically. Have repaired a few of them. But never without a structural getting involved. Told them to have a structural send me repair details. Ain't touching this one without. IMG_2541.jpeg

Made my new-to-me plane unairworthy. Thought replacing the crappy mag harnesses would be an hour job, two tops. 4 hours later, I'm at the "90% done, 90% to go" stage and have half of my tool inventory on the wing. about 3/4 of my cuss word inventory is hanging in the hangar rafters :D

Stopped by to take pictures of the Mooney at a farm.
Sad to see. Mice have been in interior. Owls left a deposit but doubt it is enough.1000009499.jpg

Today was weird coincidence day.

1. I was sitting in the parking lot waiting for the gym to open, randomly scanning the radio for new stations. I happened on an independent, university ran station playing a song I never heard of from a band I never heard of. The band's name whas Icona Pop. Then, in the gym, I heard a song that had gotten a lot of play, by a band I've never heard of. Icona Pop. I remember it because the DJ was a girl with obviously no experience in broadcasting. She was not concise. She blabbed so much about the band and the song that I got tired of it and changed the station.

2. Again, in the gym, this morning, I watched a true crime about a millionaire that hired a hitman to kill his wife. They showed a headline in the paper. Millionaire sought in Costa Rica for murder. My gym buddy is currently in Costa Rica.

Another day, another SB. Why do these "before further flight" SBs always seem to come out right after we do the condition inspection? So, I spent most of the day in very uncomfortable positions drilling out blind rivets in the roll servo mount and replacing them with solid rivets. Tomorrow I'll play test pilot.

Visited my optometrist for a routine eye exam. 20/20 again this year.

The plane is still in the paint shop, so naturally today was CAVU, temps in the 70s, and calm winds. Too nice a day to waste, so I gave the Triumph a little exercise. I love my Beech, but a fast, crisp handling sport bike on a curvy back road is also a delight.

Didn't it just get out the paint shop a few months ago?
