What did you do today?

Not much to it, just a bunch of Chinese parts on a VK63 movement. Six hands to screw up, always a good idea to order an extra set.

So are the face and case from an original Seiko, or do you order all of it?

Updated our corporate docs. Easy-peasy once you figure out the state’s website.

Spent almost all of my unlimited phone plan minutes attempting to straighten out an error in billing for a Dr Visit and Resulting Bloodwork. Not enhanced by dealing with the Phone Robots with convoluted and almost indecipherable menus. Artificial Intelligence my arse. THE ultimate oxymoron.

Cut material for a production job on behalf of my friend who got hit on his Goldwing (he's recovering well, but nowhere near ready to return to work.) He had lined up an order for 40 aluminum sawhorses for a granite countertop company before his accident. Going to build a jig today and start melting metal.
Glad you’ve got the inclination AND skills to help out!

Just came from the doctors office. I found out I am suffering from Anatidaephobia.

The doctor did say living in the desert can be beneficial to recovery.

We’re back in California, visiting family. And I’m keeping some distance because I seem to have caught a cold. Thought it was that my old allergies had returned upon re-acclimating to the Golden State, but it’s definitely a mild cold. The only possibility for where I caught it, based on timing and being around anyone who might’ve been contagious, was on the airline flight.

I can’t remember ever going on a commercial flight and not getting sick. This will be my last trip by airline. Next time we’ll fly the Cessna or rent a motorhome.

Found this…

The protective sleeve on the lower radiator hose of my RV slipped out of position, and the adjacent one wore a hole in it.

If I was a man of leisure like @Jim K and @Ted seem to be  I’d replace it myself, but I’ve got a hectic week coming up. So I wrapped it up well enough (hopefully) to get it to the shop tomorrow, and I’ll have them replace all of the coolant hoses. Look for me in a YouTube episode of “just rolled in”!

Fortunately I discovered it pulling into my driveway.

Remember, don’t eat it’s liver, other than that bears actually taste pretty good.. just saying…. Is there a hunting season for it in your area?
I've heard it depends what it's diet was. If it's been eating rotten fish and garbage it's gonna taste like it. If it's been eating acorns and junipers... Much better. Also heard how and when it's field dressed matters.

The few I've eaten were great. But haven't harvested one myself. In new Mexico you can't use bait. And during archery season you can't run dogs. The one I had a shot at was a cub, which wasn't legal. In some states you don't need to take any meat, and that feels wrong to me.

renewed my dislike for creating/writing websites.

yeah, I'm not a web weenie... much more interested in embedded realtime code. but I be retired.

I dunno, that doc sounds like a real quack to me... :D

I been a baaad widdle boy...

I took 1 medium FedEx box, 1 half of a brick, a little duct tape and a mystery gift to start the fun.

I taped the brick inside near the side of the box so it would move and make the sound of something in the box. Then inserted the mystery gift and taped the box closed.

I went to do some rat killing this morning so I set the box near the entrance to my driveway. When I came back a couple hours later, the box was gone. I still can't believe folks have not learned. Oh well. I didn't need the 1/2 brick, real brick, not the other kind...

Oh ya...the mystery gift.... was used toilette paper. And it wasn't used to blow my nose, if you know what I mean...

Finished up my friend's aluminum sawhorse job. Didn't want to TIG weld everything, so I finally took the time to set up the spool gun I scored on eBay new-in-box five years ago. Welds kinda look like the contents of Zeldman's box, but it sure was quick.

More RV-6 condition inspection stuff. The other day I pulled the panels under the seat. Today I cleaned inside that structure, lubricated the heim joints associated with the control system, inspected for cracks/loose nuts, and reinstalled the floor panels. The flap actuator covers too. Tomorrow, reattach the lever on the trim system and climb down into the footwell to inspect the rudder/brake system. After that, a compression test and the worst is behind me...

Note to self... Must remember to complete condition inspections before DST ends in the fall. I have about a half hour of useful daylight after work this time of year and my hangar isn't particularly well lighted, so doing work of any sort is tough other than on the weekends.

Had a very one sided discussion with a 63 yr old employee on how it's not OK to tell my customers to STFU when they ask if they should come back later. All cuz the customer was coming to pick something up right when he was about to go to lunch. Delayed him by maybe 2 minutes. Maybe. Then gave him the rest of the day off. He may or may not still be employed Monday.

Talking dad into a pulse mig machine 17 years ago was one of the best thing I got out of welding school. Was thinking of buying another. But I don't quite do enough aluminum to justify it. When Arlington Park closed, the maintenance guy gave us a call. They had a brand new millermatic 3ph welder and an unused spoolmatic. Hell yeah I'm interested. So I've got that one if I need it plus another 30a in my service truck

I almost feel sorry for whoever picked it up. Almost.

All the sequels are here, and they get far better - Catching *and shutting down* foreign phone scam call centers in addition to shutting down common criminals.

Mark Rober has the best non-aviation YouTube channel there is.

Went outside this morning to find a FedEx box with 1/2 brick still inside and used TP scattered in the driveway. I think I know who the person is. Time to install the security camera.

Now, I am open to suggestions on what I should put in the box this time...

Do you really think they will do it again? I mean if they do your kinda getting into coyote vs road runner territory (except coyote vs coyote).

Keeping it PG, a big box of the tiniest styrofoam beads you can find (old bean bag fill size or smaller),line the box inside with tinfoil with a small spot not covered, than after the box is filled and sealed push a small wire into it (through the uncovered area) and connect one lead of a batter charger to it and the other end to a wire in contact with the foil for a day or two to really get then statically charged up…

I don't usually miss the snow and winter, but right around the first snow of the year and on Christmas, I always get a little whisper of "that is just so magical".
There is something truly surreal/magical about standing in a place and in every direction there is “nothingness” but the road behind you and the road ahead of you to be seen stretching to the horizon in all directions. I didn’t choose “flatiowa” randomly, I live in a very flat part of iowa, but I love it. The stars at night are breathtaking, and when the ground is covered with snow on full moon nights it looks like another world.
