What did you do today?

Made progress on the rearrangement of my hangar to accommodate my Aerolite 103 and Ercoupe. Should be finished by Monday. Nice to have temps in the 70’s (but Humid) vs 90’ (and Humidity off the chart).

I got an email from a company offering me over 350K for my house, sight unseen. Should I jump on it.??

Not bad ROI since I only paid 128K for it 16 years ago...

(don't worry, I know it is a scam)
Paid 176k for my property in 2012. Assessor says it's now worth 460k. Last time I got the assessment I went to the assessor's office and asked them for a check.

Worked an accident. On US 45 northbound...It did not have anything to do with my roadsign :nono:

We need a new rule. The assessor’s office should be required to buy the property at the assessed value if the owner chooses to sell. Same deal for insurance companies.

Yeah… think that one through. When was the last time you saw the government do something in an efficient and cost effective manner? These are public employees, so quite possibly not the brightest and most driven people. They’d be buying properties with YOUR money. And then doing what with them, exactly? My guess is… letting them sit until they are run down enough to be sold at auction for pennies on the dollar.

In fairness. The assessment is probably on the light side considering the state of the property now. It's 4 miles from the business. My house. A rental house. And a 2 car detached garage with a soon to be apartment above it all on 1 5 acre parcel.

When I bought it in 2012 at the ripe ol age of 23. There was one house that desperately needed a remodel. Another house that I had to evict the racoons to tear the house down. And the garage with a slab broken and walls rotting.

Argued with a guy who was telling me that using runway 24 when winds were 60@3 is the wrong runway to use. "But 6 is the active"
Not that it happened recently, but I love when winds are light (pick any direction at 3 or 4 kts), and people on the radio ask me which runway is the active. I usually tell them any one you want! I landed 27 but will depart 9 :dunno:

In the last week I tore out a tile bathroom and busted up a cast iron tub. It was brutal carrying out dozens of buckets of tile and concrete.

Then pulled out a splinter out of my finger.

IMG_5658.jpeg
Then replaced the motor in my pressure washer.

I put new brakes on my 172 all in the last week.

I also changed the oil and spark plugs on the 172 right before the brake job .
We have a contractor remodeling our bathroom and it is the only one we have, so we are living out of our RV in the driveway. It pretty much sucks. It will be about 3 weeks to get the bathroom usable.
What about those 3 days bathroom remodels they advertise?
I didn’t think it would be a good thing to joke about with my contractor. Lol

they didn't say which days, did they?

and perhaps the length of time for a remodel is inversely proportional to the number of other working bathrooms available.

“I’m sure I’ll take you with pleasure!” the queen said. “Twopence a week and jam every other day.”

Alice couldn’t help laughing as she said, “I don’t want you to hire me—and I don’t care for jam.”

“It’s very good jam,” said the queen.

“Well, I don’t want any today, at any rate.”

“You couldn’t have it if you did want it,” the queen said. “The rule is, jam tomorrow and jam yesterday—but never jam today.”

“It must come sometimes to ‘jam today,’ ” Alice objected.

“No, it can’t,” said the queen. “It’s jam every other day: today isn’t any other day, you know.”

Sounds a lot like probate.

Worked on stuff for the 6Y9 fly in. As I did yesterday, and the day before. And the day before that and...

TIL fish have these, and that people will eat just about anything.

Flew over the boat races. Landed 30 minutes after sunset. Then since I was pic, I was blamed for all the bugs and had to clean it myself.

Land 9 and take off 6 at C81. That actually sounds kinda fun.

Got the Aerolight 103 hung from the rafters. Next step cleaning and rearranging the floor plan. Move the Ercoupe next week.

September plan: detach the Aerolight from the top of the Ercoupe, repair hangar roof, begin rebuilding aircraft.

Actually, it sounds like a cool arrangement. Post some pictures when you can. How tough will it be to pull out the Aerolight when you want to fly it?

Ugh!!!! Last day on Oahu. Back to the PNW, back to finishing summer projects before the weather turns and back to working on the canopy for the RV-8. I really want to get this airplane finished and flying. But some parts of the build are just a slog!

Looks nice. We'll spend 4 weeks on Kauai starting in January. When the weather in the PNW is really gloomy and wet.

It probably worked as well for you as it did for me 30+ years ago when I called the Alameda County assessor's office and asked if that was an offer to buy my boat. Twice what I paid for it.

It would have been nice, but don't hold your breath.

Went to my neighbors funeral. She worked the office at my elementary school. She was my great aunt's best friend in high school. I may or may not have used her kindness to feign illness on test days.

Parkinson's and dementia. Looked like a different woman 10 years ago when she turned 60.

The Ercoupe vertical tails go on either side of the main gear to get the rear of the plane in the back of the hangar. Pics of that next week.

Open house at the club (evil gun club)

Helped a buddy rmove the engine and mount from his plane (same reason as mine). Spent a couple hours cleaning up forward of the firewall and doing prep work for a couple service bulletins.

Couldn't fly due to local thunderstorms and low overcast. Spent a while in the hangar, puttering and muttering. I'll be glad when we get out of this summer weather pattern. Grumble.....

Pretty slick! How tough is it to position and hoist the UL?
Put the mains on a couple of dolly’s and wheel it into position. Used a tractor mower to hoist it, easy to lower.

Neat. Upload a video when you have a chance.

I assume you have safety chains or cables holding it up, in addition to the hoist.
