What did you do today?

Got permission from the BOD of the County Airport to hang my Ultralight from the hangar rafter so I can keep it and the Ercoupe in one hangar and stop paying rent for the second hangar. Also opens a space on the 6 year waiting list for somebody
You could always hang the Ercoupe…I mean, if it works for a Bonanza…

Nah, unfortunately I missed him by a couple days.

Didn't catch the photographer's name. The photo ship was an Aircam. I flew through its slip stream on a 300' AGL downwind and almost became a statistic.

Went on a date for the first time in 5 years. Bonus points to her for having taken a discovery flight and wanting to pursue a ppl. Waaaayyyyy out of my league, but she didn't seem to mind.

I married waaaaayyyy out of my league. Pro tip - forget candy or flowers and buy her real estate.

With my looks and personality, she cost me 2.5 acres fenced and cross-fenced, a 2-stall barn with tack room and shop, a 4/3 2-story home with pool, three Thoroughbreds, and one Quarterhorse.

You have been warned.

She wants to be able to fly to her parents lake house in Michigan. I can get on board with that

Want to go fly - but will mow the yards instead - because today is Saturday. We live in a beach resort area and Saturday traffic in summer is horrendous. So, I'll wait for tomorrow to fly and do things at home today - so I am free to fly tomorrow. LOL

flew for breakfast. was 105*f but only felt like 40*c.

I got up at 6 this morning so I could fly for a couple of hours before the heat got too bad (still breaking in my OH'd engine). My phone wx app says the feels-like temp this afternoon is "south hell." I'd go for a swim but the water in our pool is boiling.

On the plus side, I can cook in our grill without needing charcoal....

What's your preferred load for the mosquitos up there, #7 bird shot?

Post annual flight. Circled over airport for a bit then headed off to Houghton Lake for some lunch at The Spikehorn with the wifey.

Man, you guys make me feel bad. It was 47 when I got up this morning. But it is now 3:41p and the temp is showing 92 with a whopping 10% humidity...

Bought a moped to use for touring the fall rod run in pigeon forge TN this September.

Shot my bow. 4" ring out to 70 yards. Too damn hot to do anything else. Cleaned the house and did laundry in case @ColinD was right.

I think I asked this a coupl'a years ago, but how are the plans for the first annual PoA pigeon forge golfathon/campfest at your place coming along?

Ha, my place is a little East of Pigeon Forge. I don't really have any connections with that airport or the folks there. But my place is kinda nice.IMG20240318073051.jpg

Asked one of my guys who's already on a short leash to clean out the parking lot storm drains after lunch. He decided to spend the rest of the day sweeping floors. So the last 30 minutes I was scooping up slop.

When I asked why he didn't, "it's 92 outside"

Buddy, it's 92 inside. The overhead doors on the shop are open.

Drove 3 hours round trip to have a look at my in-laws' nonfunctioning computer. It's a little NUC-style mini PC I set up for them a couple years back when their old one died. Yep, something fried it pretty well. Fortunately I had another little mini-PC that I don't need, and even MORE fortunately I'd set them up with OneDrive the last time around after spending days trying to recover all of their stuff from a defective drive.

My son: "Why don't they just have a couple of iPads?"
Me: "They're in their mid 80s and have been using Windows since the 90s. DO you want to handle teaching them how to do everything on an iPad, then be available every time they forget something or just want to complain that it's different?

Just finished 2nd dive of the day just a ways off Ala Moana beach when the Tsunami warning sounded on all our phones. Packed it in and got back to the boat slip ASAP so the skipper and dive master could beat feet out of town. The owner was nice. Met us at the slip and told us all to "just go. If anything happens, the insurance company owns it!" I gave them a big tip and beat feet to the condo. Now sheltering in place on the 8th floor 3 blocks from Waikiki beach. We will see what happens. I still have 3 beers left so its not an emergency yet!

Usually you're better off heading out further with a tsunami. Most of the wave is under water and if in deep enough water, you wouldn't even know it went under you. It's when it gets shallow that it gets bad.

That's why the owner met us at the marina when we came in. He was taking the boat out. The ladies that were my crew both had families to get home to. And, my wife would've freaked out if I'd left her on her own to wait it out.

Interesting side note: the Navy ordered all ships out to sea and they evacuated the beaches. It was absolute chaos on the streets of Honolulu. The few businesses that stayed open in the Waikiki area really cleaned up. Every one of them had lines out the doors and down the street. But by 6:30 Waikiki streets were deserted and every condo and hotel was a party from the 4th floor up.

By 8:30 the talking heads were saying the worst was over. From what I could see on the webcams the cement sea wall down by The Outrigger hotel got a little more water over it than usual. But no real flooding. Going out for breakfast and to scope it out at first light.

4 days cruising the inside passage, then touring the Alaska and Yukon interior. Skagway, Dawson, Juneau, Denali, etc. End in Anchorage.
I enjoyed landing at Skagway. And then buzzing the cruise ships during the takeoff. More impressive was how the cruise ships parked in such a small area.

I flew over a cruise ship parked in Disenchantment Bay to look at the Hubbard Glacier…so many people crammed onto the bow of the ship, I was tempted to see if the props were being lifted out of the water. ;)
