What did you do today?

However, if you bump into something in a bulldozer you’re probably gonna win. And you weren’t going that fast either
People walk at 3 mph . . . so maybe 2.5 . . ..

Went downstairs to get something out of the basement bedroom this morning, stepped on the carpet and I heard a slosh sound and my sock was instantly wet. That woke me up faster than the quad americano I hadn't taken a sip of yet.

As the klaxons were blaring in my brain I searched for the culprit. Turns out some idiot (read: me) must have tripped over the drain line from the HVAC condenser and the elbow joint came undone. So both my units have been pouring a nice bit of water there.

Spent the day tearing everything apart, looking for signs of mold, deep cleaning it, getting fans to dry things out, and drying it out. Feel A LOT better now.

Any further work will have to be done post osh . It's a much better state now (aka: dry).

Flew a low wing airplane for the first time: Piper Dakota.

I'm still not sold on low wing supremacy, so if someone with a T-34 or P-51 wants to step up to the plate, I guess I'd be open to reconsider my stance.
@EvilEagle has a T-6 that would probably get you on the right track

Flew post annual test flight…….finally. Ops Check OK with one minor squawk. High pressure on nose wheel with minor shimmy. Released as Airworthy.

Good to be in the air.

Got distracted with a dumb question while fueling up. The nozzle at BUU is unreal. Direct hit to the tab on the right tank and ended up taking a 100LL shower.

That's better than the nozzle at OCQ which they replaced with a standard nozzle from your car gas pumps and it takes a loooooong time to fuel. Price to pay for cheap fuel almost right on the way to/from the cabin I guess.

Got cleared through the ORD Bravo. Well, it’s what I did yesterday - but as rare as it is - warranted a mention.

Cooked a tuna steak. Also did other stuff but I did this too.

Wired up the "new" 3 phase drill press. Which is actually older than the one it's replacing.

Bike ride, weed wacker, lawn mower, tractor shredder, smoothed some dirt with the bucket. Looks nice. Spent afternoon with the wife. After 7pm, was cool enough to go outside and fix barb wire fence, change oil in the Mule, then, go for a walk.

Tomorrow: on call for a 4 day trip.

Dodging a B-52 near Minot AFB ND were you?

When I entered Walmart this morning I watched 3 people get detained for shop lifting.

Shoplifting at Walmart is still illegal?

I kid, but if they make people put a fence around their pool, because it's an "attractive danger", why should my county government have to send a car over to Walmart to pull people out of their pool for free? If it's not a locally owned business, I want a $10k bill, base, for sending out an officer, and for the box store to pickup the cost of housing and courts. Their problem, not mine. Small businesses don't have the same problem because they actually staff their damn stores.

Your Walmart has a pool??

The local Walmart here has check out counters that are manned, and left only a few of the self checkouts. Because of theft, those self checkout counters are manned to ''assist'' customers. A lot of the more in demand items are locked up in cabinets and to retrieve an item a worker has to go get the key. Then they take the item(s) to customer service where the customer picks it up and pays for it. Also the police have a auxiliary police station right next to the Walmart.

I am guessing right now, but the detainees this morning had a strong resemblance to others that are in this country illegally, so now it becomes a federal problem.

Last time I was at a Walmart in new Mexico there was a lady with a shopping cart full of food just purchased and trying to return a frozen pizza. I'm sure there was some sort of hustle she was working but I didn't stick around to find out.

Immediately after leaving they had a DUI checkpoint stopping everyone. At 3:30 in the afternoon.

That is about the time they wake up and go home around here.

I like DUI check points. When they ask me if I have had anything alcoholic to drink, I put a worried look on my face...'' No sir, should I have.??''

I follow that up with, ''I know working DUI checkpoints is not the exciting police work promised by the recruiters, and thank you for being here.''

Got stung in the face by a wasp at the range.

Luckily I forgot my wallet in camp when we went to town. Truck was covered in mud. Officer said have a good day.... That big guy up ahead will spray some soap on the truck as you drive by.

Have seen my fair share drunks and addicts in Española. Whichever apparently is the low rider capital of the world.

Got permission from the BOD of the County Airport to hang my Ultralight from the hangar rafter so I can keep it and the Ercoupe in one hangar and stop paying rent for the second hangar. Also opens a space on the 6 year waiting list for somebody
