What did you do today?

Notice they don’t call him “honey-do projects completed.” ;)

No man was called… ever. Just sayin…

But don’t think I didn’t leverage that angle in furtherance of my, uh, problem.

“Honey, if I just had *one more/bigger/slightly different tool* then I could do *name the item on the list*.”

In retrospect, I think she knew. Whoa, she was enabling me. It’s really NOT my fault! Whew…

Have you ever bought a tool and then go searching for reasons to use a tool? Or is that just me
It's more of a 3-4 step process for me: See a tool -> Think of cool things I could do if I owned said tool -> Buy tool -> Build thing.

That is, I don't buy a tool without any reason to use it, but I'm very good at coming up with reasons to use it so that I can buy it.

Also, it's pretty rare for me to only build one thing out of a tool after I build the thing that initially justified the purchase, so my bride doesn't ever complain about my tool purchases.

I could have used a reversible die grinder exactly once. 5 years ago. Now I pull it out of the tool box to use it on things to justify owning it when other tools would do the job better.

Today I bought a 3 zone 3 ton mini-split. I'm pretty sure I bought it because I want to have a much cooler living room and bedroom. But it might be that I really wanted a reason to buy a 2 stage vacuum pump, a digital vacuum gauge, yet another gas regulator, and a better tubing flare tool.

if it helps, think about it this way: if all you really wanted were the tools, you could have bought the tools and told friends you'd help them install their own mini-split systems.

I put a single-zone mini-split in my garage a couple weeks ago. Ended up not using the flaring tool I bought for the job, but I do now have a vacuum pump and HVAC gauge set. Now I have both 37 and 45 degree flaring tools... I'll use the 45 degree on the Mustang I've been threatening to restore for several years now, if I ever make good on that threat.

Was going to do the Post Annual Flight Test on the Ercoupe but 700' Ceiling actual and forecast put an end to that idea. So I'm going to see my girlfriend who is ahead in the priority of things even if she thinks she's second to Aviation stuff

Today I was a total Karen.
I was so offended by NPR's grossly incorrect data that I actually took the time to write to the editor and ask them to fix their data.
They stated: there are 12 million full time professional internet influencers in the USA making an average of $178k.
That implies influencers have a collective income just a bit under 10% of the entire US GDP.
I'm hoping that me pointing that out and providing a link to BLS figures about incomes and GDP will be enough to make them second guess their dubiously sourced facts.

A favorite line from comedian Dan Cummins

" Social media influencer...you think that's what you do? You have 32 followers on Instagram and a part time job at Arby's. You're barely a roast beef influencer!"

Today I wired the RV so I can run my second air conditioner from a 20-amp outlet while running the rest of it on the 30-amp outlet.

They don’t make RV breaker boxes any larger than they have to, by the way…it took some creative wire stuffing to get the face plate back on.

Three years after he had been run out of the NFL, a sports show still referred to Johnny Manziel as a “free agent quarterback”. Since then, I tell people that I’m a free agent quarterback. :)

Tiles were peeling away from the backer so they had to come off. Grout tomorrow.

Had to clean the contact points in the well pump relay so the water would come back on. It works for now but a new one is on the way ...

Were you in the shower all soaped up when the water quit.??

Like I was.??

I just took an old nail file and filed the points. Been working for 6-7 months now. So far... but I do have a spare just in case.

Actually *blush* I noticed it when I hit the flush button. The flush completed but the refill was very slow (the pressure tank was running out) and I knew the pump was off.

As another insult to injury, morning as I'm trotting along on the treadmill (out of the rain) the electric company shut off the power to change out what they said was an aging transformer. They did warn me yesterday but I had forgotten it. It's really been a strange week around here and we've got a couple of days left ... ;)

Spent the day in the air flying back from the Cessna 150/152 fly in in Clinton Iowa .

Cancelled an appointment to test drive a new car (to potentially buy) - and, instead, mowed the lawns today. That frees me up to get to the airport for the next couple of days. Now just crossing fingers for decent WX.

Washed out post annual test flight. This seems to be monsoon season around here at KGDK.

So did some work on tiling kitchen backsplash including getting a sheet of Stainless Steel for behind the stove and SS switch and outlet covers.

Pics later (either plane or kitchen whichever gets done first.

What were you flying?
The white/red Sportcruiser. Where you there?

Edit: Thats crazy, I just saw your post above mine. When I started my post, the message from Dalandee was the last post. I think you arrived after and parked next to me in the gorgeous Cherokee Six?

Ha. Yep. That's my ride.IMG_1560.jpeg

Drove a bulldozer, no certification required. Made more per hour than flying, two certificates and multiple ratings required . . ..
If your elevation was off 1' driving a bulldozer, depending on what you were doing, you might get fired. Ask a pilot to hold 1' altitude error and they'll laugh at you.

I could maybe survive flying for a living, but I wouldn't last a day running a bulldozer.

However, if you bump into something in a bulldozer you’re probably gonna win. And you weren’t going that fast either
