What did you do today?

I moved my irrigation on the north end. Then I pulled the house well pump and installed a new one 65 feet down. Then I sprayed some thistles and knap weed, after lunch I set a trap for a pack rat, caught and killed him. After that I went for a swim in the river. Had a beer about 4:30, then went down to the hangar and proceeded to remove, rebuild, and reinstall the diverter valve in the dozer. Then it was time for beer 2 and dinner. Now it’s ice cream after a shower. Up at 4:30 to go buy my elk tag.

You have my attention: Hangar and dozer usually don’t happen in the same sentence. I can only imagine what a flying Caterpillar D6 would look like

Fixing this.

After 17 years, our farm's zero-turn mower developed some roughness at high RPMs. Apparently nobody had ever adjusted the valve lash and the valve stem hammered a hole straight through the rocker arm. Impressive, and I'm completely to blame.

hangar stores much more than just the plane.
However, the diverter valve had a Cessna logo on it.

Many years ago, I worked on IBM 2314 disk drives... 1960s technology machines that used hydraulic actuators to move the read/write heads. The hydraulic pump used in those has a Cessna logo on it also.

We have a rental house that has a female raccoon and her offspring living in the attic. She’s been trapped and released once, because she was still nursing and we didn’t want a bunch of dead baby coons in the attic. She’s been resistant to all forms of repellent we’ve tried - male coon scent, mint oils, coyote pee.

Now that they’re probably old enough to follow Mama out door for nighttime raids, today we blocked off the attic openings with 1/2” hardware cloth and a spring-loaded one-way exclusion door. They should all be able to get out, but not back in. I installed a battery powered Ring camera so I can see how many leave and whether any get back in - which is unlikely, but I want to make sure.

I hope this works. My next approach may involve a .22 with low velocity loads… but out tenants or the neighbors may take exception to that.

I fell hard. Went to my garden and the bell peppers were looking sad so I watered them. Then I turned the sprinklers on and ran to keep from getting sprayed. I have a 2 foot step up on to my concrete patio and I jumped, my sandal slipped, and my shin rode the edge back down. It was one of those moments where I had the time to think "In about 5 seconds, this is going to hurt like hell"

Ouch. Sorry, man, that’s gonna suck for a while.

Got the fridge up the stairs and into place in the garage loft. Also munted the granite for the island.

Ran the dishwasher for the first time. Not fond of island dishwasher but was space limited. Have to run a water line for the ice maker on the fridge but after that all appliances will be done.

See, you would have been better off meeting me for beers today. :)

Add it to the list, "Can't turn on the sprinklers."

When is the NTSB Report coming out?

Had a single event that was kinda similar with a squirrel and the garage. I used a trap and one way trap. I have a feeling if you don't catch and dispatch it, it'll just keep coming back. With NYS DEC and bears, I think they relocate once but if they repeat that have to get rid of the bear.

Anyway, popped on to wish you luck, and suggest a high velocity pellet gun vs the 22. It'll work, it's about the same noise level, but depending on where you live way less forms to have to worry about if the neighbors don't like it.

Pellet gun is probably the way to go. It's in the city, so the rifle would be illegal... though quiet. CB cap from a target rifle is REALLY quiet, but not exactly low profile.

The "coon cam" didn't detect any motion last night, which I find quite strange. Either they already moved on, or there's a way in and out that I missed. Gotta head over today and do a soffit inspection, I guess. There are roof vents, but they're all solidly attached and have no openings - just tiny louvers.

Re poor choice of footwear, there was the one guy who wrote a song about it, leveraged that into a brand, and according to Google that brings in about a billion (not type) gross revenue per year. But for everyone else I think the song was just a cautionary tale.

Hope you got some custard for a pick-me-up.

BBQ. We went out for a 'quick BBQ' run that took over 2 hours. There's a BBQ place to the left of the gas station (which is on the left of the frame).

I'm gonna say that lincoln* parked awfully close to that chevy.........

*is that a lincoln? do people still drive those? if so, not very well, apparently............

Yes, that is a Lincoln. Sadly, that is/was *our* Lincoln. It is/was a very nice car, too. :( The Chevy pulled out of that drive-through and accelerated right into our car and then proceeded to drag us several feet because she wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention to where she was going or what she was doing. She hit us so hard, the front grille popped off the car and flew five or six feet.

And then she didn't even want us to call the police. Of course, she drove away just fine, just with a new dent and a citation...

ETA: a traffic citation, that is...
