What did you do today?

Took a kid and his mom up to Rochester to go to Mayo clinic. First Lifeline flight in almost a year. Flew home at 11,500 and got 150 KTAS on 12.5gph. Bought 68 gallons of avgas at $4.89. Got to watch the glider club launch one. Shortly after another one landed and flopped forward with it's tail in the air and made a horrible grinding noise as it slid to a stop. Don't think that's how that was supposed to work.

Cleaned up my garage shop some. Used my new-ish Japanese pull saw for the first time “for real” taking a couple inches off the legs of a little 2x2 rolling stand I use for the drill press, bandsaw, buffer, and belt sander. Sure as heck, got three perfect cuts and one close enough I could touch it up with the block plane before putting the casters back on. Amazingly enough, the legs all ended up the same length… I think that’s a first for me.

like bees?
I was thinking more of what may or may not be in your drink if you complain about soggy fries.

But sure. Go with bees and their delicious honey that helps with allergies and all the pollination work they do.

And they sting peoples eyes out. That’s true. They work in unison, and sting people in their eyeballs until they’re blind or dead or both or maybe just bleeding from their eyeballs until they walk out into the middle of the street and get hit by a bus or worse a prius. But I guess you’re right, even with soggy fries you can drown them in ketchup. You can’t drown your bee stung eyes with ketchup.

Harvested honey again. 6 gallons on the year from one hive. I'm beginning to understand why @Racerx is giving it away lol. Next year I'm going to leave the supers on longer and only harvest once. Cleaning up all the equipment sucks. Put a mite treatment in that hive, so any honey they make from here on out they get to keep.

I also managed to find and mark the queen in the split I made a while back. I've been looking for her for a month. They've got about 3/4 of a deep box filled out. They might make it.

When does the flow wind down up your way? Down here (south of ATL), they say that honey flow is done in early June, which was surprising to me.

Never really been a Ford guy, but that is still sexy AF. Red, 4x4, 8'bed. Well done sir.
I was kind of a GM guy until I married a Ford heiress…my FIL worked at the factory for 38 years, so we have Fords in the driveway.

Close up you can see different colors of paint where the previous owner took care of a little rust and painted up to the stripe, but once all the panels get rust and I take care of it, it should match, right?

The guy obviously put some time and money into making it newer, and with the straight six and 5 speed manual, even my marginal mechanical skills should be adequate to keep it going.

Next couple weeks I think. And I am only basing that on being at the CG festival, and someone was selling honey. Daughter asked about honeycomb because she wanted to try it, and they said that would come in about two weeks. So you're definitely getting an expert answer in this post.

I would expect nothing less...

Bear in mind I've had bees all of about 15 months. Last year they were making comb & honey into September. The goldenrod bloom is the last significant flow. They've not really had a slow period this year. Lots of wildflowers, even now. It's been a rainy year which I'm sure helps. I live smashed between a railroad and in interstate, so there's lots of unmowed right- of- way for them to forage.

I had a '75 Ford van, 3/4 ton with the 300-6. Killer motor, especially after I put in a 5 speed tranny, after market cam (Iskenderian), aluminum intake, 4 bbl carb and a split hedder. Also did head work, larger valves, longer rocker arms and light porting job. This was back in the mid 80s and it would keep up with the stock Chevy pickups of the time. Man, those guys hated my van.!!

I used it to pull my race car, which it did well.

I wanted to paint ''6 IN A ROW CAN GO'' on the side but never did.

Contemplating making a what did you do yesterday thread. Because sometimes you doo something cool and you get home and you're too distracted to get on here and post it. Then you go to sleep, the day becomes yesterday, and your window of opportunity has closed. It would taste a lie, if I posted what I did yesterday in this thread.

That's like objecting to jokes being posted on days other than Friday...

The closest to the eyes was a sting on the tip of the nose. Had me sneezing for 10 minutes. But it was only one bee. The only time its more than one is if youve thoroughly ****ed them off and they release an alarm pheromone. If youre around bees and smell bananas. That would be the alarm pheromone.

My closest call was a sting next to my wedding ring. My ring was already tight, and I didn’t think much of it till a few minutes later. The mild swelling started cutting off the circulation in my finger and making it swell more in a positive feed back loop and I couldn’t get the ring off. Mad sprint to the house and a ton of dawn dish soap latter I was finally able to very painfully pull the ring off while trying to remember if my hacksaw was in the shed or the basement. I was at the point of cutting the ring to save my finger. New personal rule made that day, “no ring when working bees”

in high school a friend of mine got really really drunk (he weighed like 90 pounds and was drinking wine and scotch) and was slurring badly. he had the brilliant idea to tell his folks he got stung by a bee in his mouth and that's why he was talking funny.

it did not work.

Took the Ercoupe up for a (very) short flight - the HAZE was so thick it was no fun trying for a "sightseeing" flight. So, I went back to the airport and did some pattern work on a runway I seldom use. Good practice - logged 0.7.

Be honest, in the heat of the moment, which decision were you questioning, working bees or getting married? :)

Note to self, don't wear metal rings.

Back on topic. 4th date and still just as gobsmacked she's interested

That's wild. I've been stung but it wasn't ever bad. Now... once I was bitten/stung? by a centipede on the eye lid and it became swollen shut for a week. Not only was that painful, but I was running into furniture and edges of doors that whole week as well.

My mistake was not credit checking my in-laws. Not joking. But you may not want to mess with ex-FBI
Will tread lightly. Only skeletons in my closet are hanging on the walls, and she seems fine with them.

Gorgeous. 11 years younger. Business degree from mizzou. Wants her ppl to fly to the lake house in Michigan and already has her 1st class medical. I'm just a dumb welder with a lazy eye that can only muster a third class.

So yeah, the after my money thing/ friends playing a nasty prank has crossed my mind. Decided to just enjoy whatever happens.

Well, if you don't pass the background check, I imagine he can make your demise look like an accident. Probably an airplane crash.
It sounds like he was/is part of of the background check to get a foid card in this stupid state, which I passed. So that means I'm good right?

The main flow is done in June. July-August there's usually a nectar dearth. But it's been Ok by me. We usually have a secondary flow in September when the goldenrod kicks in. That can be hit or miss with rains. When the bees are drying down the goldenrod hives will smell like a sweaty gym bag. I try and have whatever supers I have off the hives by September 1.
