I hope it was in the category of "the cab's cup holder broke" vs "the corn harvester caught fire".I started harvest. Only two things broke. To be fair, one of those was broken before, but I just didn't find it until now.
The unexpected failure was the moisture sensor on the combine, which while it doesn't stop progress, does take out the yield monitor and data logging. Now is the time I really need it with wet corn, so I'm hoping it just needs cleaning. The other one was just the (lack of) dash lights in the truck, which probably means I forgot to hook up the ground when I was replacing the fan switch. All in all not too bad. We'll see what tomorrow brings.I hope it was in the category of "the cab's cup holder broke" vs "the corn harvester caught fire".
Does the spotlight still work?Almost made it from Georgia to my destination in central Ohio. Ran into a front and landed about 45 minutes south. Gotta love a small town crew car and cheap hotel for the night.

So....
Jim the Farmer is building an airplane. Jim spends lots of time in a Combine cab. Why not combine the two? Why not do some fabrication on farm equipment? Suggestions:
1) GPS autopilot on the Combine
2) Starlink
3) Bose ANR noise cancelation for entire cab
3) Drivers seat similar to command chair of USS Enterprise
4) Oled screen connected to full ESPN package
5) Small coffee vending machine
6) Small fridge of course
7) Ice maker
8) Voice activated controls
9) Is a microwave necessary?
What else?
He already has autopilot...at least the planter does. And ESPN does him no good since he isn't a sports fan.So....

He would be if he had time to watch sports. Too many hobbies and kids to feed.He already has autopilot...at least the planter does. And ESPN does him no good since he isn't a sports fan.
Also....
Happy birthday Farmer Jim.

Good. Me, too.
Never forget.
That was gonna be my recommendation also....old home neighborhood. VHPA chapter has flyable Vietnam era helicopters.Check out Creve Coeur (1H0)airport. Free parking. Cheap gas. Grass and paved runways. Hotel not far.

He said small town, not in the middle of St Louis.Check out Creve Coeur (1H0)airport. Free parking. Cheap gas. Grass and paved runways. Hotel not far.

Litchfield (3LF) may fit the bill. I believe they have a car.Looking for suggestions on a place to stop tomorrow night in the St Louis area.
I'll be flying from Ohio to Kansas. Halfway point is the Mississippi River.
I prefer a small town airfield with a crew car, decent gas prices, and a reasonable hotel nearby. Bonus points for a grass runway or sleeping accommodations on site.
I don't want a busy field, controlled airspace, a fancy FBO, or tourist attractions.
Sparta (SAR) may also fit the bill. They have a car but the FBO is closed on Sundays so I dont know if you can get to it. But the Holiday Inn looks to be walkable.Looking for suggestions on a place to stop tomorrow night in the St Louis area.

Paducah (PAH)Both look like good options, thanks. I suspect the weather is going to push me south of St Louis.
My last mag inspection took 6 weeks...I was seriously considering a spare mag until I saw the price.Poplar Grove quoted me 2 to 3 weeks yesterday. The last time I sent them it was 3 days.
