Hello everyone!
What have you done to replace the old school air vents in the rear ceiling of the passenger area? Mine have fallen apart. The vents look like sideways cans. Thanks!!!

If you're somewhat good with CAD/3D printing, or know someone who is, that might be a good attempt.

I couldn't find an existing design on a quick search, but it might still be worth searching the various 3D printing sites.

For reference, this guy did it for the PA28:

That's a great idea. I'll research some sites. I assume no commercial products that are new.

Can you post some pictures of the vents or what has fallen apart.

Wilco has/had a retrofit package for replacing the vents in a 210 with 'eyeball' vents. I could not find the equivalent for a 182 but there are several forums with posts of individuals using Wemac vents with associated adapters for the SCAT tubing and fabbing a mounting plate to attach the vent in the factory location. I would imagine that could be done as a minor modification?? I'm having that done as part of a Kelly Aerospace electric A/C install in a 210. The factory vents on my plane are very similar to what you post for your 182. I would have the guys at Kelly MGM take a photo of the duct work/adapter but they put in the headliner on Monday.

That is fantastic information thank you so much. I will check out the information you provided to post the pictures of the final product of your 210 as well. Would love to see it once again thank you very much.

Have you dug into all the usual suspects that provide parts / interior plastic for our planes?

These are unobtainium. You'll need to come up with a homebrew solution as a minor mod. Spruce has a nozzle that takes the 1" scat hose that I'm thinking of trying, but haven't committed yet. It will require fabricating some kind of cover plate. Some bored engineer/3D CAD designer could probably make a few bucks selling these if it wasn't for the perceived "need" to have an STC or PMA for every little object in the plane. (This is clearly not a safety of flight thing, unless it went flying off and hit the pilot in the back of the head).

I have to wonder if the original part is actually from a 1960's van or something like that. I have trouble believing that Cessna went through the trouble of designing such a complex part just for an airplane.

You just have to stop by my hangar to hand in the cash and click "GO" on the 3D printer, then it will be an owner-produced part. ;)

Yes, that is the exact same part as the ones in the rear of the later-model 210. Same face plate and everything. The Wilco kit should work fine. Maybe give them a call?

Is it possible to retrofit later model 182 air diffuser?
Could he use a air diffuser from a 172?

Be aware the air diffuser bezel might not be all that needs to be replaced.
It's like opening pandora's box.
More than likely the ceet/scat hoses will need to be replaced.
Mine(1980) were repaired with duct tape a few times and filled solid with mud daubers, both sides. Glad they were plugged otherwise the air coming through there would be bad.
You should pull the headliner and see what you have first.
Then decided on what diffuser you are gonna use.
