I learned that Lightspeed headsets are not allowed at my employer.
In my plane, I use LS exclusively but I they will be Comanche only headsets now.

Personal Headsets
Pilots may use FAA approved personal headsets, if the headset is manufactured in accordance with TSO-C139, TSO-C57 and TSO-C58.
In order to validate compliance with the applicable CFRs, a TSO certification stamp or marking must be affixed to the headset.
Contact a Chief Pilot office, if any question arises concerning the suitability of a particular headset type.

For those that fly bigger iron, what is the accepted / recommend headset?
The plane has very mistreated David Clarks on board but I want my own and I want to take care of it.
It is certainly way quieter in the jet than in my plane so I am wondering if y'all (bigger iron pilots) still prioritize ANR.

NOTE: I am aware I just asked "Which headset is best?" on a pilot forum which is right up there with "High wing versus Low wing". Low wing by the way.
For non GA, what are the recommendations that work for the environment and satisfy the above note in the FOM?

Bose proflight , in the ear. Bonus points if you can use ship powered.

We have standard and XLR plugs on the plane but not LIMO style. I will look at that one and see what options are available.
I know next to nothing about XLR but I am assuming they use ship's power?

Edit: HAHA! The AI pilot on the bose site looks happy with the headset. That's some lazy ass marketing right there.

I 100% promise you that no one cares if you use non tso. The absolute worse case scenario a fed rides and cares then just pop on the shipset. I use the david clark on ear noise canceling they are a bit lighter and i like the ability to slide it off the ear a bit to talk to a flight attendant or whatnot.
EDIT: using ship power is nice I change batteries once every two trips or so and its not bad cause i have a usb container that recharges them its more the annoyance of them randomly dying mid flight.

I would probably ask on whatever forums your company has, or wait until you are on the line to see what folks are using so you know what works well in the airplane you will be flying.

haha least military pilot of all time, captured in a nutshell.

edit: to OP, I fly with Bose A20's in the airlines. They work just fine.

Everything is surreal right now.
The non revving we are doing right now is crazy and the jump seat flying is wild. I just went from having a job to going on adventures.

Getting a pay stub with an airline logo on it is wild. It's all wild.
At the risk of doing a minor thread hijack, congratulations!! I hadn’t seen that you’d made it to an airline. It’s been fun watching your journey.

I recommend either the Bose pro flight 2 with custom ear molds or the dc pro x2

Buy headset with ga plugs and get the adapter for the xlr plug.

Used both on the bus and the Bose on the 737. Liked them both. The Bose is better IMO. The Bose with custom ear plugs is the bestest

Whatever you buy make sure it has Bluetooth connectivity.

Just to add yet another opinion... my B737 day job gets a DC Pro-X ANR headset, it stays in my work flight bag. My LS Zulu 3 is used for everything else, it stays in my RV-8; I'd say just get another headset of whatever flavor, and keep 'em separated... as the Offspring once said.

My DC Pro-X has worked well for me for almost a decade. It's overkill for what I fly now, but I found it perfect for the 737.

When I flew at my Major I used a U-Fly converted QC-15. It worked great in the 737 cockpit, and when I was commuting I could use the headset for noise cancelling/music without having a boom mike attached. I still use the QC-15 at my Fractional when I'm airlining but in the cockpit it's strictly a backup.to my DC-One X.

Most, if not all, airlines will require TSO headsets. You'll see some who ignore that, with a low likelihood of being caught, but you probably talked about intentional non-compliance during Indoc.

My preferred headset is the Clarity Aloft Pro (TSOd version). I do not like the over-ear, or on-ear, design.

That U-Fly conversion kit might be seemingly great for the user, but, I always cringe when I see the other guy wearing that headset… from my perspective, they suck. The boom mic never stays in place, it’s always drooping, yet the guy wearing never notices, plus the mic audio is weak. So they’ll be talking and yet I can’t hear them, they gotta practically hold the mic right in front of their lips every time they need to speak. So, what’s the point of the boom mic then?

Harrumph.

Yes, I've had that problem as well when other people use these. Get a real headset.

My plane is so noisy I use the Dave Clarks and cover my whole ear.
I even tried my leather flying helmet, but it didn't help much more and was very hot in the summer.

Another vote for the DC Pro-X.

I love the Atari Ferrari and its fat sister, but I really miss having an intercom. I found these work the best

I've got a pair of Pro-X2's, but in my current jet, I don't really like them, as having one ear off (for lack of an intercom) makes them useless. I'm using Telex Airman 8's, as I hate using the cheap ship sets. It works fine, but this jet isn't really that loud, all the noise is in the tail.

I just use the ship sets because I don't wear them very long and it's not worth bringing a set. If I had to fly a 737 though, I'd be getting a good ANR set of my liking just for that pain train.

Welcome to the airlines.

Telex 850 has worked for me for 3 types. The smaller the better. I think a pair of Bose A20s or similar is overkill

Do you even use/need noise cancelling on the flight deck of a CRJ/ERJ/Airbus/Boeing ?
