Instrument Checkride Questions?

That's absolutely right. It's not even about the oral. It's the unexpected stuff that happens,

Be aware of that, do more cross countries, hit more types of airports, ask questions, keep your head on a swivel mentally, be flexible, even watch YouTube (find people who seem to know what they are doing (and learn to recognize those who don't), and realize you might never know everything. The learning will come.
I filed both directions for my commercial solo xc. I probably learned as much about the IFR real world in that flight as I did in a lot of my IR training even though it was about 90%+ VMC. There were a lot of unexpected ATC instructions, but plenty of time to think them through. And I was the only one there, so I had no crutches. That was an awesome flight, and I realized that I actually had learned something in all those lessons.

I kind of feel the same way but much less so these days when applicant's often travel to a distant location because of DPE scheduling issues and no one is available for local gouge. Although for they are usually better off finding a FB pilot group in the DPE's area.
When a CFI prepares a student for a practical test, that student should be prepared for any examiner that person may chose, not the examiners the CFI uses.

If you prepare a student for a test in Iowa and they opt to take the test in Idaho, they are the PIC for that test and opted for that location and conditions. Decision making part of the test.

Additionally, DPEs are required to create an individualized plan of action for each practical test. So saying this DPE does this on every ride today isn’t accurate.
