G5 and 430W

I believe I am understanding correctly, but for those that have completed the install, a GAD29B is required for a G5 HSI to read to GPS data from the 430W, correct? I am hearing from some that the GAD29B is not required, but based on Garmin's install manual, I think only the VHF info can be used from the 430W without it?

Correct, you need a GAD29 to get GPS into a G5.

They used to make a straight GAD29 which was a bit cheaper but I think now the only one available is a GAD29B which allows old analog autopilot interface

I think you can still get the GAD29 have a buddy that got it installed just recently.

I don't have GAD29 in mine and it works perfectly!
