French Fries

I order freedom fries. I do not like French fries.

Shouldn't this thread be transferred to somebody's Facebok account?

There's a place in Lawrence, KS that does fries (among other things). They have about a half dozen different recipes. The duck-fat fries are the best.

That sounds good. I'm an Arby's curly fries fan myself, but I'm always open to new venues.

I'll take onion rings over fries any day of the week. And yes, I am aware that they are probably worse for you than fries.

Onion rings are superior, as long as they are real onion rings and not processed chopped onions a la Burger King . . . And spicy dipping sauce makes them much better than ketchup.

Please, please eat more french fries! They are very good for you & are not the least bit fattening. In fact, the also boost your testosterone levels.

* disclaimer - I run a company that sells potato equipment. :)

I, too, love me some onion rings. I'll take those over fries unless I'm thinking Arby's.

Liar! Nothing French could ever possibly increase testosterone.

McDonald's fries are great, when piping hot. Also Culver's fries are good.

Really dig the Five Guy's fries, I'm pretty sure it's a potatoe they slice right there.

Agreed, although I do like Ranch for dipping.

I have to disagree with the Five Guys fries. I didn't think they were that good, especially for a place with 'fries' in their name.

Yup see those sacks of potatoes all over the place? Real baby, and like In-n-Out, made fresh. I too like Five Guy's the best, even over In-n-Out's, had both so I should know! ;)
Both are good, very close IMO, but Five Guys gets the edge with me.

When I get the G6 we will have to fly, drink, and then force your son to cook

He's a great griller. You take him up and I guarantee he will cook! He's a PPC, loves airplanes.

Oh, yeah, he will drink too! :D

Just got some steaming hot salty frys from McD's. They do satisfy that need once in a while. :D

Are they French Fries when bought in France?

There you have to ask for pomme frite (or the French waiter will consider you an uncultured lout from the New World who does not deserve his valuable time ;) ).

I think FF (not to be confused with Foreflight) originated in Belgium.

Downtown Lawrence is actually pretty kid friendly during the day.
Hehe...my best story about Lawrence begins and ends with "I knew when Tommy Stinson walked into the Jayhawk things were going to get ugly." At one point there was a dude on fire. I said, "Dude, you're on fire." It gets a little hazy after that. o_O

I might have had some fries, I dunno.

and the fog of war

Can't remember too many things about the Hawk. Favorite after class place was the Catfish - or whatever it's called now. It's right on the edge of campus, and there was a white line painted on the front porch. You could sit outside with a beer, as long as you were on the building side of the white line. They had measured out the right of way from the sidewalk, and on the far side you were OK. The other place I liked is now a Mexican place where I like to go whenever we go back for dinner or a night out of the house. The men's room is at the end of the bar and had a see-through mirror above the urinals so you could check out the action while recycling beers. Somewhere over the years that mirror has been paneled over on the bathroom side, but it's still there at the end of the bar.

There was also the bar that had the guys/ladies rooms labeled "Clams" and "Oysters", good luck with that.

@Ted DuPuis - we like to get out there once in a while for an afternoon trip. If you ever want to bring the kids and meet someplace there, let me know. I still know places.

Actually, went to a McDonald's in Normandy a couple of years back. They spoke better English than the McD's back home....
