French Fries

Actually, went to a McDonald's in Normandy a couple of years back. They spoke better English than the McD's back home....

Ron Wanttaja

Well that's not surprising you know, if you catch my drift.

I don't know if their recipe changed or my tastes have changed, but McD fries just aren't nearly as good as they were when I was younger.
Right. I crave the fries cooked in the original beef fat and cottonseed oil, as they were meant to be. Phony "Health Consciousness" destroyed what was the food of the gods. Death to canola oil!!

Come south, and eat at a family run restaurant an hour away from the interstate . . . The last girlfriend before my wife used to take me to this little seafood place in eastern NC. The food was awesome! After several visits she told me they still fried it all in lard. This was in 1998; they probably still do.

Perhaps this will make you crave it even more?

Where was this?

Hush puppies. When I lived in S/E VA, I got a taste for them. Best I ever had was from a roadside shack somewhere near the NC Outer Banks about 40 years ago.

McD changed to an oil without transfats. Definite taste change.

Sonic = Tots
In 'n Out = Fries
Carl's / Hardy's = Onion Rings
McDonald's = God help me, how the hell did I end up in this pit of hell

But I do love a good thick cut steak fry with a medium rare sirloin for lunch. Can't eat Sushi every day yah know.

That's what I think whenever my wife insists in stopping there . . . Not much I can eat. But every now and then, the fries are good, if they're fresh from the fryer.
