I've never called an examiner for a checkride and was never given the choice. Always set up by the instructor. Well, come to think of it, I don't know who set it up. I assume it was the instructor. lol.

I never even set it up either. It was always the girls that worked the desk who called the examiners and set it up.
 
need to understand. did your cfi put the date of sign off a day before the actual flight date? by error
