I don’t blame you. I’d feel about as comfortable with your current latch as I would this one:

Really? Good to know. I had the one I thought I wanted on the Cherokee and liked it. The one I currently have on the Comanche just feels flimsy for some reason. It doesn't usually unlatch but has done so twice in turbulence :-/ I guess the grass is greener on the other side. You want my latch, I want your latch haha.

The one you want is from a Cherokee, not a Comanche, at least not one that Piper put there. However, Webco in Newton, KS is a name that all Comanche owners need to know. They have a kit for that. Are you new to the Comanche?

New(ish). I've had my Comanche for 2 years now. I'm actually flying up to Webco in a week for the gear and horn AD. I'll ask them I guess.

Never has unlatched. 16 years and counting since yesterday.

I have this one. Works great but if you don't make sure to get it all the way back, the door will unlatch in flight. Aka I do it instead of my pax

I think someone in the past converted it to this one. I didn't do it. but it is also not stock as I understand it.

As long as it is fully locked, it is solid.

The cherokee latch needs to be adjusted correctly. Ours kept unlatching until one of the guys fixed it. Now it seems to engage positively. Before it was completely random.
