Aviation-Themed Alcohol

A friend of mine was an engineer working for Dyno Nobel. Anybody in the plant (where they made primers and det cord) was required to wear a bright orange company issued shirt at all times... it made it easier to find the bodies in the event of an explosion.

Reminds me of wearing a dog tag in the laces of each Army boot, so they could identify any legs found lying around.

I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of T-shirts at a similar facility that read, "If you see me running, it's too late."

Nauga,
at the speed of heat
If one knows its too late to run, why bother?

How about: "If you think you need to run, you ain't gonna make it."

Not alcohol related but this aviation coffee is really great.
I prefer the Huey

Sweet, thanks!

I bought a bottle of Flare Bourbon. I haven't even opened it yet and I'm already buying accessories! Their new glass set looks pretty cool and is a reasonable price.

So we opened a bottle a few weeks ago and unfortunately, I was a bit underwhelmed. It had some flavors (call it an aftertaste) that I wasn't digging. My wife on the other hand, thought it tasted fine. I'm no connoisseur by any stretch, but for context at home we use Woodford and Basil Hayden for our cocktails and Blanton's for sipping so my that's my palate's orientation flavor-wise and I don't like to stray too far out of those lines even for something simple like a Bourbon and Coke.

Yeah, I bought some at Oshkosh and really wanted to like it more than I did.

Tastes better after you nail the landing on the green dot.
I landed on the purple dot, but that beer wasn't coming out until after I left. I was not happy that they spaced out the releases like that!

I opened mine and have only had one so far. Thought it pretty good, and my tastes mirror yours, I did add a dash of orange bitters like I often do.

As a spirit, Bourbon quality has gone down since…2020. The biggest factor has been the explosive growth of ‘boutique’ or ‘craft/artisan’ NDPs putting together a profile and having MGP or the like gin up a batch at an exorbitant for quality price point.

The big guys aren’t immune, either. While following the profile trends, even BTAC offerings are less complex overall.

As much I appreciate bourbon, popularity and the secondary market have ruined it in for me.

Well, some mentioned they don't care for Flare, but I will say their marketing is spot on. I haven't even opened my first bottle and they got me to buy a second one! They have a limited-time Staggerwing bottle and I needed it! Flare Staggerwing Bourbon

I saw some aviation-themed pint glasses this weekend in Maine; it turned out they were from Flight Deck.
Stopped in there (driving) up to Bar Harbor. Beer and Pizza were both great and they're dog friendly.

I have access to a laser engraver and I know how to use it. Any requests?

"Semper Bone", bottled and labeled specifically for our B-1B Reunion. A Distillery Whiskey, which means it must be labeled as a "Liqueur" and not a true whiskey. Sadly I could not find if this company was still in business.

AOPA briefly had a wine club and was lambasted for it.
Because they were pimping out their membership list to a distributor selling a product that was wholly unrelated to their core mission and highly pretentious besides.

You're a pilot? Welcome to POA!
You like wine? Good for you! Lots of craft brew and/or spirits drinkers here, too.

But strolling around the N40 at OSH with a wine glass in hand because "all pilots drink wine" is a bridge too far.

Honoring the world's first float plane (ca. 1858).

Here’s a tasty Lager created for the last flight of the C-2 Greyhound and decommissioning of VRC-40 from Big Ugly brewing in Chesapeake, Virginia.
