Another random thought bouncing around my empty head is that a Viking might be "pay as you go" making it attractive to jump into, a deb might be a pay more up front & cheaper airframe maint....but when you pay as you go on a Viking you never see that $ back on resale.... I realize u never get...

As far as maint, my Bellanca had aging fabric, that was looming in the background, as recovering costs more than the plane is worth... so consequently I never wanted to leave my airplane out overnight on a trip or heaven forbid have it rained on.... mechanical maint might be similar but...

Update:: I sent my case to Divco they found a few things to weld up & recertified it Cam, crank & gears went to aircraft specialty..... Ground crank 5 under, new cam, gears were mag'd & certified.... New counterweights & hardware, all new lifters, 4 new rockers, new piston pins, new oil pump...

I think I'm going to send the case to disco, cam crank etc to aircraft specialty services.... I have some mild corrosion on the cam so it may have to be rebuilt.... I think I'm going to square away the bum end with good parts and then decide on what to do with top--- anyone want to weigh in on...
