I used to be a certified life guard (teenager), and I am SCUBA certified for life, and I have been meaning to take surfing lessons but that 9mil wetsuit is a pain in the rear. CA is coooold.....
So yeah, I can at least do the dead man's float.

Really? Lake Michigan can be very cold but not as bad in the fall. Superior is always cold, bring your dry suit if you want to dive there.

I don't know, you'd have to ask Liz about the couch.
As for his flying, well, just strap in tight and hope for the best! Personally I think flying with Ed is probably pretty safe. Not because of any particular skill set or anything but because the Comanche is so ugly the Earth repels it.

I don't want to dive there silly. Others are suggesting I might have to swim for my life there! And I don't have a dry suit or a wet suit. I was certified years ago and haven't gone on a dive. I only was trying to say I can (sort of) swim and I have experience with water.

Sorry, but it won't really help much if you go down in Lake Michigan or, worse yet, Lake Superior. Ask Kent or Scott(?) sometime about the plane that went down in Lake Michigan. The pilot was able to make a cell call from atop the wing, but died of hypothermia before he could be rescued.
I will point out, though, that EdFred can make the flight loggable for you if you make it worth his while, but Leslie and I can't (unless you've got your certificate by then.)
OTOH, Ed recently posted that redheads, blondes, and brunettes avoid(?) him. So I'm not sure what it'll take to meet his price!
On the third hand, his mom and dad will be at Sidnaw with us, and might be able to keep him in line, at least while in their sight. (Then again, maybe not.)

I do leave it up to the pax on Lake Crossing flights on where they would rather cross. I will say, "There is an x minute window that if the engine quits in we will end up in the drink if we cross here, or we can always be safe if we cross here."

You should. I have been told that we have great shipwreck diving. Lake Superior is hard on ships. In any case the water is cold. I go all the way to the bridge when crossing from the UP to Northern Michigan October through April and cross between Fox and Beaver Island the rest of the year. I suspect that EdFred probably carries inflatable life vests when he flies over the lake.

I've never seen a gun or shot a gun (OK maybe once but I am VERY inexperienced). And doesn't that take like ten years to get approved in California? You can't just walk into a gun shop and buy a gun. And according to the 6Y9 count down, I don't have enough time. There are those little air guns with the pellets. Or a nerf gun. I think TSA would let me have a nerf gun (I won't be "checking" any bags, just the carry on).
